LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Created a window skin by manipulating screenshots of Diablo 3's windows.
I'll probably get sick of it in a few months and switch to another different one, but for now I think it looks nice. If anyone wants to use it, here it is. I should submit it to a couple resource sites, I guess.

I'm guessing that isn't a 2k(3) system skin. Shame, it looks good.
I'm working on a free-roaming wanderlust epic featuring a chicken as your main protagonist. Your objective is to wander around a deserted town, gobbling up as many seeds as you go. The town has mysteries behind it, which you have to uncover. The hardest part is making enough maps. The finished game will have 50x50=2500 maps, all 17x17 in size. They will link together Legend-of-Zelda-style (pun intended), seamlessly and integratably (if that even is a word).
2500 maps, 30 projected days, 2500/30=83 maps a day. 2 hours work a day, 43 maps an hour, a little under 1 map a minute. So yeah, I'm screwed.

I'd quarter that number. Heck, divide it by 10/15 :/
author=LockeZThat's a nice windowskin. It fits everything else really wel--Oh my GOD please tell me that font!

If you had the fabled ability to pump out 83 maps a day, I will sacrifice goats for you so that I can borrow your powers.

Draw a map up ahead of time so you aren't winging it, make it simple, and it is possible.
I'm kidding of course, you actually are screwed. Sorry.

Benny, that map is pretty massive. Even if you cut it off now and only keep the parts you've already done, it's a really big town. Though if it's actually a dungeon and has battles in it, it's probably perfect. And I admit I like the layout a lot.
Can download the font here if you want to use it in your game.
author=EssencebladeHahaha. Sure. It's the font from Chrono Trigger. By looking at screenshots I recreated it in a font-making program that gives you some control over anti-aliasing, so at least at sizes 12, 24, 36, etc. it looks pixel-perfect.author=LockeZThat's a nice windowskin. author=thatbennyguyIf I have the tileset ready, it takes me about an hour to make a good map, or about 20 minutes to make a really shitty map. Also, holy SHIT. Legend of Zelda was only 8x8, man. And then it had eight dungeons that were mostly about 15-20 maps each, but still. That's about 250 maps total. Link to the Past was about the same size. No one's ever accused either of those games of being too short.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if I could even EXPLORE every map of a 50x50 map let alone do things in all of them. That is such a massive world that it would take weeks just to see the whole thing.
@thatbennyguy: O.o what made you decide on 2500 maps? Are you gonna playtest all those?

I'm working on a small multiplayer first-person shooter. It started as a project for 7-Day FPS, but I got sick so I decided to work on it afterwards. Here's some pics!

I needed some networking/multiplayer programming experience anyway, so this project is my chance to practice it!
The game is tentatively named "Lantern" and it's a multiplayer FPS based around light-and-dark and audio mechanics. The players fight in an unlit haunted house, and all they have is a flashlight and a pistol. Players can find (and kill) other players by looking for their silhouettes, using the flashlight, or listening for audio clues. Using the flashlight or the pistol can give away your position though, so you have to be clever. There's also a lot of objects to hide behind - couches, pillars, tables, crates - like an actual abandoned house would have.
It's a lot of fun to work on and it's coming along really well :D Content-wise, I want to polish some things and add another floor to the house, but then it's just bug-checking left!

best server name
I wrote a script that picks names randomly out of a hat and, if you try to host, adds on a randomly generated server name :D I add to the list whenever I need a break from coding or I think of a good one.
(if you think of a good one I can add it for you, lol)

@LockeZ That's true. My game is focussed on exploration though more than enemies/puzzles, so it has less filler to bloat gameplay up. But I think I'm faring well so far.
@neverm0re That's the thing, you sometimes speed so fast through them that it takes not long at all to get from one place to another. So exploring is a breeze, but it's also a wonderful mechanic.
@slashphoenix Yeah I've already playtested the 20 maps. The thing is, there's not much to test except passability and the occasional item pick-up, because this is an exploration game after all.
Also, it's nice to see you're doing an FPS. Also your concept sounds like a very good atmosphere, almost Resident-Evil-ish (the early ones in the series). As long as you keep it about chilling and unsettling vibes rather than boom-this-will-jump-out-and-scare-you-with-a-large-sound scares, then it will be fantastic.

Latern seems pretty cool. I hope to see it up soon. =)

I caved, and with no ability to work on anything else I started redrawing BR's portraits.

Hmm. Are those in real time, or are they sped up? Maybe you are just that much faster than me. My own estimate is also really questionable since I can't remember the last time I created a map without adding more stuff to the tileset several times as I was making it. And also since the tilesets I do use are like 50x the size of the VX Ace tilesets, so you have add a few minutes to the total time just to let me find all the tiles I want to use.
