WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE MANGA/COMIC RIGHT NOW?

Posts

Right now I'm really loving Shingeki no Kyojin. The fact that even the main characters can and will fail even in important situations makes their determination so much more badass.
Reminds me of the golden days of Berserk a bit.
Too bad I don't like some parts of the art very much (action scenes are good, but faaces were really horrible in the beginning), but it's improving.
Here's my current pull list:
Batman
Batman Detective Comics
Batman The Dark Knight
Batman & Robin
Batgirl
Nightwing
Red Hood & The Outlaws
Teen Titans
Justice League
Avenging Spider-Man
Scarlet Spider
Uncanny X-Men
Wolverine & The X-Men

Really been enjoying Avenging Spider-Man, picking up 4 tomorrow so we'll see how the second arc goes. X-Men has been fantastic post Schism - Wolverine's book is my favourite of the two, and, as always, I'm a bat-whore. Admittedly I've been reading a friend's copies of Batwing, and I've had little interest in Batwoman.
Batman Knightfall
Batman The Black Mirror
Fate/Zero
Necroposting. :3

Here's my list of favorite mangas:
-Mirai Nikki
-Gantz
-Eden no Ori
-Btooom!
-The One
-Battle Royale
-1/2 Prince
-Team Medical Dragon <3
-Liar Game
-Elfen Lied

....and other shoujo ones that I'd rather not mention. xd

I don't think I've yet found a delinquent manga I didn't like. My "current" (finished reading ;-;) one is...

Yellow Magic
Could I BE any more Chandler Bing from Friends (TM)?

-Liar Game

Reading this at the moment. It's not bad at what it does, although each round can get so ridiculously complicated I actually end up memorising all the rules just so I have even the faintest idea of what's going on.
Yep, the games can become complicated (esp at the maths department) so I just ignore it and focus on the 'story' xd There's a gaiden out called "Roots of A"(?) that focuses on Akiyama Shinichi. 2 seasons of the live-drama and the movie for the final arc are out too btw. :)

I don't know, I don't think there's that much of an actual *story* outside the small quantities of character development here and there (I'm on volume 10 and Fukunaga's easily the most interesting character so far); I just enjoy seeing Akiyama execute some insanely well thought out plan whenever a clever bastard seems to have won (dat Yokoya, the sneaky SOB).

I knew about 'Roots of A' but didn't realise there was much live-action apart from a single season, cheers for the heads up!

K, maybe not much of an *actual* story but the mumbo jumbo stuffs about psychology is always interesting to know. :3

And Kanzaki's more tolerable in the manga (even though she's still dumb naive). I hate the one who plays her in the live drama -_- She's that bitch from the Death Note movies and the one from Hana Yuri Dango. Dunno why she always plays the dumb blonde/backstabber roles. 8)

I'm also enjoying reading Eden no Ori, Liar Game and Bakuman.

Yeah, I definitely appreciate the mini-psychology lessons. Really useful stuff. 8) If Kanzaki's MORE tolerable in the manga I'd really hate to see the live drama, to be honest - I'm getting a bit sick of YAY TRUST (drawing parallels to Tea from YuGiOh and the power of friendship).

Oh, you mean the actress who plays Misa? Yeah, kind of got on my nerves during the movies. Pretty cute though. <3

Heh when I first read Eden no Ori, I was only reading it for the ecchi stuffs. :$ Never thought I'd get hooked up on it <3 Though I really wish there wouldn't be so many fanservice now... :(

The author of Mirai Nikki has a new manga out called "Big Order"!! The characters resemble most of the 12 participants in the diary game, especially Yuno and Yuki, and yes, the girl is still axe crazy. :P

Has anyone read Battle Royale II? How the heck did this turned into this?! On the bright side, no more gores, so yay! 8)

Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

I may have read over it, but has nobody mentioned Death Note as their favourite manga yet?

Whoa! How could I forget DN?! Of course it's one of my favorites! It was the first anime that I've watched and is what got me into mangas. ^^ Didn't mention it since it's long been completed. I haven't finished the manga since the anime and the manga aren't really different, but I prefer the anime because Ryuk isn't much of a jerk in the end.

Oh and am I the only one who actually don't like either Kira/L? I agree with Kira's 'philosophy' and his extreme methods but I'm not exactly fond of him, the one that I despise more is L since he only solves cases out of curiosity and not justice. Rem is my favorite character btw. "Near" also kinda looked like Joshua from TWEWY. :S

Gah why is the mangaka so secretive?! No one even knows his real identity x_x I wish he'd publish mangas similar to DN instead of Bakuman :(

Man, I've been reading Eden no Ori since they found the bad berries~ It's a great manga - right up my alley - though I too wish they'd cut out some of the fanservice. Still, watching the growth of the manga/mangaka from someone who made fanservice manga to someone who has created an interesting story and characters is great.

That Battle Royale also looks like it is interesting. So far I've read up to the Odd couple being killed and it's kinda hooked me in. I'm not a fan of gore, but I can deal with it (same with fanservice) - hell, I read Gantz for ages until it started to get stupid.
@Liberty
You're right about the growth of the mangaka. Gah I wish some miracle would happen to Zaji and he'd meet up with the crew. T~T

I don't like gore but I can deal with it too. I was kinda disappointed in BR's ending. The explanation of why Kiriyama was such a psycho didn't impressed me at all. And why the fuck are people tying BR with the Hunger Games? Haven't watched it but Hunger Games is not a ripoff of BR. There are a lot of stories with the survive-in-an-island formula.

Gantz... that is probably the only manga that I have no favorites. I did wanted to give up reading at some point after the author killed off Kato. I think what captivated me into reading it is that the mangaka did what other mangakas wouldn't do - killed off the protagonist. (k Death Note doesn't count since Kira died in the end but stilll...)
I think people are tying the two together because a movie for Battle Royale came out a year or so ago and it's still fresh in that genre for movies.

Also, the art differences between the first and second are caused by different artists. Sometimes a mangaka is paired with an artist that the publisher thinks has the right look for the manga in question. After the first BR the artist might have been moved to work on a different manga and they had to get someone else in to work on it. A lot of the time mangaka draw the manga themselves, but there are cases of mangaka teaming up or finding a secondary artist or, in some cases, pairing up with a professional artist to make a manga. It's like comic books. The writers aren't necessarily the artists.
Huh? But wasn't the first movie out in 2000 and the second one in 2003?! o_O I forgot to mention that the lead of the BR movie is none other than the one who plays Kira in Death Note and the one who plays Kiriyama is L. xD

I know about the change of artists but the artwork really is crap. I suppose it makes sense if the characters are children though. :x
