I was wondering where this thread went. Hard to believe it's been 4 years since the last post.
I've taken a liking to using my art or someone else's as a background. It's usually (so far 100% of the time) centered around my cat girl, Sarah.

It's hard to get a wallpaper that looks good on my laptop... I've spent quite some time making a fucking baller collection for my actual PC though, because the screen makes that shit worth it. Oh well.
My only saviour is that Freya can make pretty much anything look good.

Couldn't easily find a random wallpaper program for Windows 8 so it's a random dergs set I got from Microsoft. I like dergs.

Some of your guys' desktop backgrounds are so elegant and minimalist.
Mine is kind of a mess, like Sooz's. (No offense, Sooz, but in some ways I think we're cut from the same cloth. I mean, you still have your old profile picture stored on Desktop? I'd say it's convenient if you like to open it up and stare at it every day, but somehow I don't think that's likely.)
Background is from The Witness. Those textures are so perfect to me, and something is mysterious about that door that makes me curious to see what lurks behind it. It also symbolizes my fanatical waiting for the game to finally arrive, after a wait of upwards of 3 years. It's probably the longest I've been anticipating a game. Generally, I don't get hyped over many games, but this has been the one for me.
There are very many useless shortcuts on my desktop. Gyazo is usually referred to via my tray or hotkeys, so I don't know why I store it on the desktop. Everything I need is on my toolbar or pinned to the start menu, anyway, so why do I need a desktop? Some of those projects I don't remember using.
But seriously, pinning stuff to the toolbar is great. One click and you're there. It's way better than using desktop icons, especially for stuff you use on the daily.
I'd like to credit my use of WikidPad to Pizza. It's radically helped the sorting out of my ideas, and I'm using Notepad++ less and less now.

That's my current profile. I need it often enough when I make a profile on a new site that I keep it there for convenience's sake.
Most of the shit on there is stuff I use often enough that I want quick and easy access to it. (Or stuff that I should be using more often, like those novels I ought to finish sometime... >_> )

haha! Luckily the programs on my toolbar are so resource-lite that they only take a few seconds to pop up. Plus, if I open them, I'm more like, "Well, I'm going to open them at some point throughout the day, so I guess it's better sooner than later."
