Right, I can hardly imagine 2 tiles, it would ruin the proportions.
@Nightowl: At first it was just me fooling around in paint.net seeing what I could do to make a platformer(So basically the tiles are inspired by minecraft) , and then I realized how I could make a style of its own by meshing it with Dragon Quest-esquese sprites(Also made as a joke at first). And the result? A fascinating setup where I have began to create a 2d platform puzzler (The result of me being seeming unable to get a good jumping system to work. More gameplay in a rpg this way as well.) The minimalist style will let me focus on what really matters: The gameplay not obscured by difficult mapping.

@UPRC: I bet he is a gambler. He's about to win a bet. XD

@Ashley_Lacure: I like how it all works so well together. Good job!

@thatbennyguy&NevermOre: Its honestly just a style thing, I wanted to make higher ceiling and two tiles felt constricting to me so I went with 3. If it really bothers you Im sorry, :3 Pwease play my game still.

@Avee: You're spot on with the reasoning also Ill increase the space between Lacure and Residence its harder to see the separation on a dark background.

@Lotus: This video was pretty cool, shows off a lot of the key mechanics of the game which I have to say Im impressed of. Loved the ocarina scene awesome feature another thing I liked was the BGM change when you became strengthened. Poor Mr. Will-O-Wisp

Thanks so much Ashley Lacure, yeah the fire spirit didn't stand much of a chance. The weapon I used in the demo was a spirit weapon enchanted with wind magic and of course with the strength amplification song, my level 1 character felt more like a level 10 with his attacks.
Ashley: 1,2 or 3 tile high walls are fine as long as it's all kept consistent. As long as all your 1-tile high houses have the same height inside, I won't mind. But if you've got several 1-tile high outers, and the inners range from 2-4 tiles high, we're gonna have a problem.

That said, I like the three tiles height, but I'd like to see some overlap with things like the bath and sink being moved up a few tiles to make it look like they're actually against the back wall, not standing apart from it.
@Liberty: Im a perfectionist so honestly every comment helps. I keep my 3 style consistent I think the only time it changes is when youre crawling through a 2 tile tunnel and a 1 tile airshaft. Other than that 3 tiles are used on all outside and inside buildings. Also I fix things a bit to see how they looked, I know its silly that Im working on a bathroom but everything has a purpose haha.


A very certain room, withing a very certain place. Possibly one of my more strange ideas, to start the game with a "Caretaker" discussing how you the player are looking in, and how he alone can see you as well because he exists within your ego by the time you looked upon him.
This might be the most brilliant tutorial/intro thingie I have ever made. If you are wondering, those purple tiles are "velvet". It will only be used for special places where the game breaks the fourth wall.

@Ashley_Lacure: The bathroom looks really cramped! XD
@Lotus: Hmm... I like the systems I see, but some of the textures of the world just are not appealing to me at all.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

What do you mean "hidden heroes"?
He probably means classes you can't change to yet.
Ideally, show them but with a faded-out effect. Don't show any info if the player hovers the cursor above them.
Loving the screenshots so far Instinct. Is that the girl's sprite on the last pic? (the one near the sign)
Thanks. And indeed it is, I basically took the character, and shrunk her down and took shots of every angle. :)
I just realized she's as tall as the trees... might need to work a bit on the size. I'll either make the maps taller, or shrink her down... or... come up with something different.

Really what I want to do is... never have the player step into an actual "map"... like ever:)
The sprite certainly looks thinner compared to the usual (vx?) ones.

Never have the player to step in to an actual map? o.o How do you plan to do that?

I'm sure there are some free taller tilesets out there, maybe. You're using VX/Ace?
