STAND UP COMEDY ANYONE?

Yeah, I've heard a bit of Stanhope, he did seem to be pretty good! On the whole I'm quite into the UK scene (this is possibly evident from the fact everyone put 1-2 names and I put 93), but not really familiar with too many US guys. Only seen about 5-10 minutes of most of the names in this thread, will try and watch more sometime and form a better opinion. And if you've not heard of some of the ones I listed, if you ever get bored please do look them up! Some of their stuff is faantastic.
i will have to check them out. all the british comedy i have heard i enjoyed immensely.
a good U.S. comic worth noting is Lenny Bruce.
I like TONS of comedians. Here are some of my favourites.
Carl Barron
Lewis Black
Alonzo Bodden
George Carlin
Lee Evans
Jim Gaffigan
Ricky Gervais
Bill Hicks
Eddie Izzard
Denis Leary
Patton Oswalt
John Pinette
The only notable one I've seen live is John Pinette, which was an awesome experience. He's such a likeable guy.
Carlin was my all time favourite. Ig uess you could say he still is. I'm always surprised when I find someone who didn't like his material. The guy wasn't just funny, but he was insight into everything that's wrong in the world was both witty AND smart. Carlin knew how everything all worked.

Theres a good number of comedians I enjoy watching. Russel Howard and Milton Jones are my two faves, with Hugh Dennis, Stewart Francis, Jack Dee, Jimmy Carr, Lee Mack, Dara O'Brian and Andy Parson's not far after them
On the other end of the scale, I don't like Michael McIntyre at all. Hell I haven't watched the BGT auditions yet 'cause they replaced Simon with 'im.

Nope, had no idea. I like him more for his personality and the presence he has when he performs.
So many comedians steal from each other though, so I'm not surprised. I forgot to mention Russell Peters as well, who is my favourite Canadian comedian.

I don't really think about this comedian until I see some of his stand up and that is Gilbert Gottfried*, he is fucking hilarious.
He could read you ingredients and it would be comical.
*I knew his last name had funky spelling, just was too lazy to look it up, thanks UPRC!

I have a love/hate relationship with Gilbert Gottfried's voice.
Another comedian I just remembered is Richard Jeni. RIP you hilarious guy.

Another good British comedian I'd recommend is Rhod Gilbert - seen him live twice and was very funny and had his own show on the BBC for awhile (in fact it may still be going - not too sure...)
Seen Lewis Black a few times live - HYSTERICAL.
Echo the Chris Farley accolades.
And man I hate that puppet guy....

Richard Pryor, Dave Chappelle, Kat Williams, and George Carlin remain my favorite classic comedians.
Minus Kat Williams.
