THE FEATURED GAME THREAD

...If you pay attention, the Buzzing Game section rotates fairly frequently. Annecdotal assertions that it's "busted" isn't reflected by reality. Every game that is on there now wasn't there 3 or 4 weeks ago.
If something similar is done to prevent these instances of 3 years of Pom plus 2 years of Pocket Mirror and Lisa, then yeah, I'd agree that it's a pretty cool and useful function. But if not, then it becomes a permanent showcase for games that are advertised heavily off-site, defeating the goal of this site.
Are you arguing what the goal of the site is, with the owner of said site?
That's the biggest thing is the games that don't need attention take up the spaces for games that do.
Everyone and their mommas know those games.

author=PancaekKinda, yeah. We can't say anything because he's the owner?
Did I insinuate that?

I prefer to be challenged than be placated by yes-persons.

No. Suggesting ideas and arguing over purpose with the person who generally defines that purpose are two different things.

defeating the goal of this site.
This is the only part I was responding to.

That's good, but as in the case with InfectionFlie's response, I'm not sure it's actually related to my comment.

Excellent position, sir, thinking like that is why you're the guy in charge around here.
Which is why I mentioned adding a year cut-off for buzzing - it gives newer games a year in the spotlight if they're really hopping and popular, but still allows space. Or perhaps a faster fall-off of buzz for games over a year old would be better? Maybe a weighted drop-off for buzz based on how long it's been on the site? Because it's not really fair to cherry-pick what games are and aren't allowed to be in buzzing - and new people may never have heard of Lisa or Pom or other games and deserve a chance at seeing them at least.
Otherwise it'd become a lot more like New and Notable/Highest Rated where it's got strict guides as to what is shown which are more discriminatory. I like the idea of Buzzing Games a lot. I want it to continue. It just needs a bit of tweaking so that those who are well known and popular don't take up slots on there all the time.

That's why I suggested exponential decay. If a game's buzz decreased by a doubling amount every day, eventually the buzz could not keep up no matter how high it got, especially if it had to recover from negative to become visible again.
How plausible that is, I don't know. I'm no website technician.
Hey, this thread used to be about Featured Games.

Speaking of which, it's time that again. What was going to be next month's Featured Game? Super RMN World 2?
Another Featured Game for kentona.
Another Featured Game for kentona.

It's been a while since April was Mario month.
It's not Mario Month. It's Non-RPG Month.
It just happens to be a Mario game this year.

For a few years in a row, that month featured nothing but SMBX games.
Time for RPG Maker puzzle games :)
I seriously need to learn how to use that Mario thing.
It seems like every community project made with it ends up being featured.
