LONDON RIOTS

This is just another senseless violent act caused by a bunch of punks with too many cellphones stuck up their ass! Why the hell do these kids need to act like such gangsters and loot and destroy other people's homes and business' over something that doesn't even CONCERN them!!! It was just one thing…that’s all. I can understand rioting over the poverty and just the ways things have been, lately, but this is still no excuse to do something like this.
Well, first we have Terry Pratchett's equation that says following: IQ of a mob = IQ of the stupidest member / number of mobsters. Second, whenever a riot breaks lose, it's an excellent opportunity for people who has no moral restraint against stealing to start looting with low risk of getting arrested. If you loot a store under normal circumstances, you take a great risk. However, during a riot there's things going on everywhere, meaning a low chance for the police to come where you are.
London Bridge...IT'S FALLING DOWN!
...I apologize.
But, seriously, this is kinda disturbing if it's affecting multiple cities. >.>
EDIT: Just skimmed the article in the OP. The rioters are completely in the wrong; this is NOT how you deal with injustice. You don't run around like animals and set fire to buildings and loot stores and shit, that only results in the destruction of other peoples lives. You're no better than the cops who wrongfully killed that guy. Show those fucking animals no mercy.
Also guess I should have read this first. Still, this isn't how you should "vent your frustration" no matter the economic state or cultural identity or whatever your country is in. The way I see if, people who act so irrationally like this and go around causing discord and destroying peoples lives are just trash, no matter the circumstances to why their doing it. This is not how a rational, moral human being should act.

The shooting was only the trigger to the riots. There are other undermining factors that contributed to it, I can only speak on behalf of our other english members here (untill they butt in) that the worldwide percepion of Britain as posh tea-drinking gentlemen is completly false. Our culture and sense of idenity has been in decline during the last few years, with high taxes and mass unemployment causing frustration to our generation. This riot has happend across London, Bristol, birmingham, Liverpool and even some parts of Manchester. This wasn't all to do with some guy who got shot, but it was an oppitunty to vent their frustraion on the society that had apparently wronged them.

You guys are young(many of you are also non-minority) or just plain uneducated about the world beyond your bedrooms, so racially charged riots are new to you.
If you care to learn, look up "Watts riots", "Rodney King", "La Riots", "Greek Town riots", "Harlem Riots", "Newark riots", "New York city blackouts", "Chapeltown race riots", etc. Do they not teach this stuff in college, anymore?
It's nothing new and it's not about being savage or irrational. It's about being fed up when you're boxed into a corner. It's sad to say but without most of those riots throughout history, change would not have happened. The police are there to protect and serve, NOT to murder and attempt to blame the victim. This incident isn't the only time that this type of thing has happened, it was just the last straw and people have had it.

In some French suburbs (lots of immigrants and children of), it's the same thing ,people live with their frustrations day after day, but when this happens, yes, this is the last straw, and things burn, people riot, AND steal, yes, most of them give out on that frustration too(having too little), etc. because KILLING IS THE ULTIMATE VIOLENCE period. And it's been done to one of them (and BY THE POLICE, see first quoted sentence).

There's a difference between a meaningful revolution at the right time and not a bunch of punks starting a riot to steal stuff, destroy stuff and have a feeling of belonging for a moment. I'm quite sure you'd ask 70% of the people in those mobs and they wouldn't even be able to tell you what they are rioting for.
I mean, it's really sad if someone died by the hand of a cop, even more if it happened several times. But you don't start burning buildings and car ruining the stuff of other peoples in the same situation as you. A lot of people get injured in that also. Those riots are ridiculous and are without meaning. Some agitators starting crap and a lot of people got into it.
This riot wasn't caused by reason other than a few groups from the Protest wanting to raise Hell, so they find an opening in which they could start one, and go right for the attack. I don't care if others agree or not, and I agree with having the original protest. But no one here EVER should agree or even try to back up why they're rioting, as they have no real reason other than wanting to cause drama.
This society, in this day and age, people are too weak. Too simple minded. They are simple minded fucks, who can easily be controlled by their emotions, and the controller happens to be, in this case, the ones who started the riot by using forced rage. They are weak people if they succumb to the rioting. To me, most people are morons in this world, and very few of the people in the world are smart.

I would rather see my mayhem in the form of games, movies and literature. It's just not cool to those who must deal with it in real life. A lot of times rioters are just thugs are people who would want to engage in violent activity regardless and hope the amount of people involved in the riot helps give them more anonymity. I wish I could say that this riot gave off a sense of legitimacy, but how many people can even see the point in this?
On another point, Legitimate protesting. Even if you do not condone violence, do you think there is much room for peaceful protests anymore? Most western governments know how to systematically control and marginalize the voice of protesters. Some really rapid and sweeping changes need to occur for the betterment of large numbers of people in many countries. I feel a lot of regret when I say it seems forceful protests are almost the only way to get things done. I am at a loss because I really don't like seeing harm done to anyone.
Again, this violence did not make sense. With the cost of the damage that has been done, I wish the media would have presented the underlying dissatisfaction of the masses (of a far greater picture) rather than a rallying behind what happened to one person. Not to sound callous. Sadly, it's too hard to use these rioters to make any kind of statement, as they are such bad examples.

author=KindredzAnd you underestimate British stupidity. With ethnic minorities and white people rioting side-by-side (aah multi-culturalism), most of them teenagers gesturing at TV cameras with stupid grins on their faces, I fail to see how this is racially charged.

Threats of my town being hit tonight :> Apparently it was last night also. That's what you get for getting your news from Twitter.
I can't believe how calm Manchester is. At this rate we'll be the only area left standing 8)

Wonder what he'd have to say at a time like this. "You think these riots are bad? Have you seen what Kentucky Fried Shit do every day?!"

yeah some guy was shot in the face down in Chapel Town. i get that 95% of these rioters aren't exactly trying to make any kind of political statement, but it's no surprise that when there are a million cuts, raising education fees and in general the poor are getting the short end of the stick (surprise surprise, tories - the government we didn't vote for), rioting breaks out.
not condoning it at all and most of them are brainless thugs, but it's the general shitty situation families have been put in, people are angry and it's an excuse. i'm pretty angry, the cuts for my mums job are going to be absolutely ridiculous and uncalled for (she's a legal aider, they get paid very little as it is for doing a morally better job) yet the government still manages to waste money on absolute shite every month. whenever i hear David Cameron's voice i get pissed off tbh haha.
so anyway, yeah, most of them are idiots and opportunists but i really do think the government's recent choices are a large factor.
edit: lol just found out the shooting in Chapel Town had nothing to do with riots, it was just Chapel Town being Chapel Town

whatevs man, it's all a mess, was crossing my fingers for AV too. i didn't have high hopes on that tbf, even some friends were voting no just because they wanted to vote and didn't understand what the AV system was.
people seriously need to start understanding politics, at least the bare essentials of it, i've met too many people who just joke about it like it doesn't matter (well most party's are pretty much the same these days but still!), yet i can't bring myself to talking to them about it because it's this kind of forbidden topic.
genuinely shocked so many are suggesting killing to solve criminal damage/burglary. to solve anything, in fact.
police are disliked enough as it is, you give them the power to kill rioters and bloody hell they're in for a whole lot more enemies.

Cops need to just start killing people. If it gets worse Marshal Law will be declaired and the army will start killing people.
The police are there to maintain order and security in a society. It's expected that they'll serve as a bulwark between protesters and the parliament, but when they cross the line and use lethal force on civilians just because the top brass orders it, they have thereby abandoned their role as peacekeeper and have become government enforcers. In that situation, they must be peacefully disbanded or violently destroyed.
And if the army opens fire on unarmed civilians then it's flat-out civil war.
Don't forget to think before you post :3

A few hours ago, there was a Facebook group of people planning to riot at Leicester. The group's deleted now, fortunately.
I fail to see how censorship can be "fortunate". Real grievances shouldn't be sequestered and driven underground.

Two things about this.
First, "Meaningful revolution at the right time" isn't recognized until after the fact. The Boston Tea Party, as it happened, was little more than angry citizens vandalizing a tea shipment. Who knows? Maybe the death of this guy at the hands of British police (bobbies :D) will go down in history as the precursor to the overthrow of the House of Windsor. Probably not, though. A successful revolution has a plan. The sentiment in the UK, as far as I know, is little more than "down with _____", with the blank being the political enemy du jour.
Second, during good times this event would have been Nightline News for a week, prompted an investigation, a police suspension, some angry picketers, a trial set for 3 years from now, and then everybody would forget it. But others have already pointed it out : The amount of backlash this event generated just goes to show the level of discontent with the entire UK system.
We can expect a lot more riots like this, and not just in the UK, Greece, or Spain. Youth of the World, Unite. Hopefully at the end of the tunnel, we'll have meaningful change in a few places around the globe and not just swathes of teenagers and 20-somethings sitting in jail for civil disobedience.
Check out the racial tension
you could cut it with a knife
