(eugh, I just linked the daily mail :<)
You do realize, it is hard to prove and/or disprove who shot first. Even though you will hear many stories about what happened and what didn't happen, and also old stories of how police are bad for doing shit like this just because they can. Which more police are good people than out of those who are bad.

In The United Kingdom, it started because the government raised the inscription fees in unversity.
In that case, welcome to reality, UK. My tuition went up like 30 percent over my four years.
Deal, UK. You'll make it. The rest of the civilized world has it tough too....almost as tough as the mass death in Africa brought on by famine and overpopulation. d^_^b
Maybe we in the USA should riot due to government stupidity.
author=DeckillerTHAT was not the reason for these riots happening, it's just poorly educated ASBO kids that want to gang together and steal things, the media are saying that because one man got shot that it caused these riots which is not true.author=chanaIn that case, welcome to reality, UK. I'm mostly giving our UK users a hard time (just as a little friendly retaliation, being a US citizen and all). The truth is usually in the middle. That story was the spark, and the stupidity of the younger generation is the flame.

The stupidity of the younger generation is the flame.
Not all of us are to blame, just some of the retarded 'chavs' who assume they know best and can do what they like, so around 20% of them which have no brains are in there.
Nah you're just defending yourself from generalizations. But usually those who seem to be generalizing are not - it's all on how the words are perceived.

Sorry, I'm not big on assuming that the Police are always doing something suspicious. Not a big conspiracy theory guy.
You don't need to be a "big conspiracy theory guy" to witness police corruption. It's in the newspapers all the time.

Police need to impose Martial Law, Zero Tolerance!
Sorry, but Martial Law has no place in civilized society. No matter the circumstances or the spin, martial law is a license to apply force first and serve warrant later. Legalized oppression.
The real solution is, as you mentioned, for Society to take a stand against them. Kind of like how the ethnic minorities are protecting their own, shopkeepers and storeowners need to protect their own as well.

Mass death in Africa has nothing to do with overpopulation. The famine is an artificial product of crushing debt owed to the World Bank and will not end if the population is reduced to one guy.
Now, I have to make a fuss because there's a lot of stuff said in FG's previous post that is either fallacious or untrue =(

People who are worried about tuition fees should realise that they'll never actually have to pay them off. The way Student Loan Company repayments work is based on your salary upon gaining employment and ends up being like a tax. The % of your wages that this "tax" is set at is so low that, unless you get a really high-paid job, you'll probably never manage to pay off some of the tuition fee loans people are going to have to take out with these new £9K/year tuition fees. Besides, because the % is so low, it isn't even an issue in the first place because you won't even notice the amounts that are being taken.
Somehow this makes it okay? The loan comes from somewhere. If it isn't being paid by the student who is indebted for life curtesy of unlimited extortionist tuition fees, it's paid by the taxpayers.
It's a broken system and it needs to be amended.

It's not like the Student Loans Company are going to come knocking on your door for money, because they're not allowed to do that.
That can actually be changed in a single piece of legislation passed on a sunny afternoon.

The SLC is a government-run agency, they aren't a bank.
This is actually a worse scenario :D A government-run agency borrows money from the bank and relies on tax dollars to repay the debt when losses exceed gains. A bank at least has to maintain a positive balance sheet, which would then result in lower tuition fees thanks to decreased accessibility to loans.

The kids who are participating in these riots may complain about a "lack of options" when questioned, but the reality is that these are the kind of kids who purposefully acted out in school and ended up with no qualifications as a result:
What nonsense. Only 20 years ago, a highschool education was enough to get you into a high paid manufacturing job. If you wanted more, post-secondary was there to help.
In that time frame, the post-secondary schooling industry has transformed into a beast of profit, offering garbage degrees like Philosophy, General Arts and Business Administration.
It's difficult to explain what's gone wrong with the transition from Education to the Workforce without writing an essay. All I can summarize is that the social and economic situations leading to this sad scenario are far too extensive to simply resort to sweeping generalisations like "They goofed off in school so this is what they get."

What kind of options were they expecting? The government does a lot to support them through the benefits system with job seeker's allowance, housing benefits and the like
These programs are sponsored by two sources : Tax revenue and Borrowing. Borrowing forces tax rates to increase, so it boils back to tax revenue. Tax revenue damages the productive economy, which eliminates jobs.
Do you see the Catch-22?
I do agree that rioting is useless and malicious. It'll change nothing in the long run.
These ghetto kids these days and these chavs have no discipline and they know that they are untouchable by the law because what happens? They get put in jail for a few days or so for a minor charge then get released. They know no respect for anyone or the authority, their parents need to be taught on how to take care of their kids properly, that is what I believe to be the real reason for the riots.
If your a kid with no hope and ambition and your doing crap in school, where do you think you will end up doing? You will be hanging around with other people like that on the streets causing trouble and doing whatever they want.
