2 QUESTIONS PLANTING SYSTEM/ EXPORTING FROM 2003 TO VX OR XP

Hey all I have two questions today I would like to ask the fine knowledgeable folk of this site. First off I am making a Harvest Moon game using RPG maker 2003. I personally am shocked at how well production is going. All the maps, characters, animals ect are made and programed. I have a time system, day and night system, week day, season and year system all in place. I can give gifts to villagers, have a limited rucksack ect. Lot done. However the biggest hurdle I have left to complete is implementing a planting system. What I mean is a system where you plant a seed, then if you water it once a day it grows and eventually produces vegetables. Do anyone know if a system like this exist for RPG maker 2003?

Secondly (and it saddens me to say ask this) If you think it would be to hard to implement a planting system in rpg 2003 how hard would it be to export my files over to XP or VX. I have way too much done on this project to consider starting from scratch on a new program, but if I can import my events, switches, variables, maps and charasets easily I might consider it.
Thanks.
Several years ago (I mean like, 7-8) a friend and I were trying to develop a Harvest Moon game for Rm2k. With the tech that existed at the time, it was impossible to do without putting an event on every single square of the farm, or limiting the areas you could farm. We both were considerably talented with Rm2k at the time, so it's not like we had no idea what we were doing.

Now, there are a bunch of patches for Rm2k3 that didn't exist back then, so I don't know if its possible or not.

You can't import anything from RM2k/3 to RMVX or RMXP, but I can tell you right now you'd have a much easier time learning Ruby and scripting the Planting system (I have scripted this in the past)
Well I was planning on having to put event on each square that you could farm on anyways, I'm just unsure how I would make a planting system work.
That will cause extreme lag, and require a ridiculous amount of eventing to make function properly.
