MOST LOVED MOST HATED RM GAMES

Posts

Well, it basically boils down to "I don't find this fun, therefore it is NOT fun, and that is a fact!"-type arguments.

Remember when I actually used to make games? Me neither.

I played some very old RM2K game named Heaven and Hell Ep.3 few weeks ago and I must say, hell, did it ever get any attention?
Very awesome game, go check it now: http://rpgmaker.net/games/716/
Most of games I like are in spanish... but in this... maybe week, that I have been actively visiting this site, I've seen quite a few that I liked, played and got very satisfied.
BeatifulEscape is one of those, so is Generica, OutlawCity and Hero's Realm. Also, even if I don't like that much DhuxScar (La Cicatriz de Dhux), I still like it somehow (story is superb! but in gameplay is a little heavy for my tastes).
And well... some "spanish-games" I would like to mention are Caelestis and YSNE: Hope of a dream, from RMXP and RM2k3 respectively.

And another game I like is Ahriman's Prophecy.

Keep up the good work,
Orochii Zouveleki

PD.: And to the point to dislike... frankly don't dislike any =P.

@Nightowl, right it is a great game, I played it twice, I think.

Yeah, DQ games do have a lot of heart and charm, and methinks Kentona captured some of that in Hero's Realm.

Hate
- Shadows of Evil: Wings of Time - I should like this game. It has a lot of things I look for in a game. But for some reason I can't like it.
- ...Block Land
- The Book of Three - Again, logic dictates that I should like this game. Again I do not. What is wrong with me?
- ONYX
- Barkley Shut Up and Jam or something
- Legacies of Dondoran - I just couldn't take to it. ^.^;
- Take Down anything
- Grave Spirit - I liked it but I didn't. There's definitely something wrong with me.
I like more traditional JRPGs, so this influences my choices, but I do like some original attempts. Here it goes:

Games I loved:

- Quintessence: TBV (interesting and original storyline full of twists, and an exceedingly beautiful and original soundtrack, a must-play)
- Three the Hard Way (an unlikely hero, excellent storyline, makes you want more and more, a very complete game)
- Everlong (the name says it all, yet, you don't want it to end. Have never played a game that defined the right difficulty in battles such as this one. Great characters, great story)
- Exit Fate (I love Suikoden, what can I say?)
- Alter AILA (this game just surprises you the more you play it. In the beginning, you think it's just a good game. As you unravel it more and more, you realize it's a masterpiece. And I'm talking about the original one, I have to play Genesis)
- A Blurred Line (a game that will certainly go down in history, despite never being finished. Truly amazing, I can think of this becoming a movie)
- Sunset over Imdahl (excellent game, very creative, and wonderful artwork)

Games worth mentioning:

- The Way (it's an amazing game, I just didn't love it because I don't think it ended well. Too many things were unsolved in the end, and I didn't like that. Some people love this, to always wonder about what really happened, but I like to have things cleared. Despite that, it's a memorable game, one of the best around, and I think everyone should play as well)
- Grave Spirit (it's a short game, but so different from the others, and it gave me a nice feeling when it ended. It's a good game, worth playing)
- Beautiful Escape: Dungeoneer (veeery f* up, but very different from everything else I've played. Made me want more)

Other games I liked:

- Love and War (wish Admiral Styles would continue it)
- Ara Fell (it was a promising game, too bad it was cancelled)
- Demon Legacy (I remember liking it, but I don't remember anything else about it)
- Romancing Walker (it's a good game overall, liked the dating sim and stuff)
- Legion Saga (the whole trilogy. As I said, I love Suikoden, so...)
- Last Scenario (it's a great game and very complete, but I guess I didn't love it because the hero looks like a dork)
- Laxius Power (some people hated it, but I liked it. I actually wish more games were like this)
- Lost Legacy: an Animania story (a bit f* up with the whole brother-sister thing, but it's a great game)

I probably forgot some, but there were the ones I remembered. I don't hate any game in particular because if I don't like it, I stop playing and that's it.

Like what? They're all fairly typical, besides that they're 5,000+ HOURS LONG

Because the game is all locked, because we can't steal xyz files even so most of the files can be found around the net and in nearly rm2k/3 game. I hated and loved Laxius Power games for that. I don't see how XYZ files still do any effect.

Any game that has more missing files then the windows folder. Ha ha. Like the one time I uploaded a game found out I didn't insert graphics inside to make the game work.
Loved the challenge of Laxius Power 1 and 2, 3 was just way too grind heavy for me and I gave up 10 hours in (still being stuck in the same first area and not dealing any more damage than when I started). Played the prequel (3 stars of destiny) and it was great though!

That's what I mean. True, especially Laxius Power 3 was too long. Then again, I like long games. But all in all, especially the first 2, they were "simple" games. I mean, they didn't try to reinvent the wheel or something, like some games try to do. I believe in the philosophy that simple is good. Some games try to be so original and so complex in their stories, or their mechanics, etc, that they become boring. Sure, if you want the challenge of making something different and innovative, go ahead, but it's quite tough. Most fail. And many times, some of the best games don't bring anything new, but follow the same-old formula that works.
But the main character of Laxius Power has a girlfriend! An ELF girlfriend! And they have sex! :(
How can you not totally like him?

And you can check thousands of urns and barrels for the one or two that have items!

Laxius Power series is shit, I commend the creator for creating so many games, let alone the length of those games. But no one should be paying $15-$30 for his games, which they're at now I think, not the original three his newer Laxius Power games.
Well I can't really say I hate any RPG Maker game I ever played, so I'll just stick with the faves.

Faves

- cRaZy_gUy's Journey

(My most favorite RM game, the humor is great, it has some crossovers, lots of custom sprites, awesome plot, awesome characters, and three different ways of battling.)

- Final Fallacy
(Completely RTP, most people would say it's average, but I really loved the humor and the characters and the plot. Also the RTP especially fit this game perfectly.)

- Legend of the Philosopher's Stone

(Loved the story of how a couple of high-school kids ended up in a completely strange world. Also custom menu, custom battle system, very cool mapping. Was this ever finished?)

- The Most Stupidest Game Ever
(Awesome game, awesome humor, catching people in Pokeballs, fighting Papa Smurf... This game got it all.)

- Legendary Adventure

(Not a very special game, average mapping, cliche plot, the characters were so-so... But this is one of the first RPG Maker games I played and the nostalgia factor makes it a favorite for me.)

- Legion Saga
(Don't think I ever finished it, but definitely a good game. I thought the plot was kind of forced, but still.)

- Super RTP Adventure
(Typical RTP-comedy based game, pretty random and pretty awesome, some cool minigames, just a cool game to play every now and then, inspired by I think Yellow Protector of the Sun, which brings me to...)

- Yellow Protector of the Sun
(One of the most random games I ever played. It was so damn random that I loved it. It's like this game is a pioneer for any comedy based RPG Maker game ever.)

- Pokemon: The Evil Inside 1 & 2
(Killing off Pokemon with various types of firearms... How can it not be fun? In the second game there's even a first-person-shooter Ho-Oh boss, that was so awesome. And created by a dutch guy, Colt. Yay, go dutch people!)

- Rm2kemon
(RPG Maker Pokemon parody, what else can be said... This game was just awesome.)

- Barkley: Shut Up and Jam Gaiden
(Created in Game Maker, but still... What can I really say, this game rocks.)

Well, I think that's all of them.
