HELP ME COMPILE A LIST OF EXEMPLARY GAMES
Posts
I'd just like to point out that making twenty different lists with different levels of what's "Acceptable" to get onto a list completely defeats the point.
One list. "These are the good games." Done.
Don't make simple things complicated.

Must you guys question and (over)analyze everything? Can you guys just do me a favour and list like 5 cool games you think are just super-awesome? It's no wonder I feel like I have to do everything myself around here a lot of the time...
ok, I got 5 that are not too banal : RE-Alistair++ , Fey, Myth Xaran, Heaven and hell Ep.3 and The Blue Candidate.

I think the only reason there is so much argument really is that everyone cares about the site a lot and knows that the upstanding staff here truly do try to listen to everyone. But obviously we all have different opinions and many of us are quite happy to share it. I don't doubt it can get annoying. It's a good thing though overall I think because it shows how much everyone cares.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Yeah, uh, the reason we analyze everything is because everything deserves to be analyzed. Especially since you're asking us to do it. If you did it yourself, I'd probably be more likely to give you the benefit of the doubt that you'd analyzed it yourself enough arleady. But if I'm going to do something, I want to know for sure that it's a good idea beforehand.
Creating a site is just like creating a game. You can't just suddenly decide to do things without weighing all the pros and cons and side-effects and side-effects of side-effects. Everything that you think might have any sort of effect deserves in-depth analysis to see how good of an idea it is. Everything that you don't think might have any sort of effect deserves in-depth analysis to make sure that it really doesn't.
That said, I did start out my first post in this topic by giving my recommendations for exemplary games: all the featured games. There is zero reason for any featured game not to be on that list. (Is there a good reason for any game on that list not to be featured?)

I may be wrong, but I think there is, on rmn, a not nasty but habit of being over nitpickingly analytical-critical as soon as a decision id made by the"authority", but then isn't that one of children's favorite games?

That's a habit by all of humanity. And an extremely good one. One that it actually pisses me off when people don't do.

Actually, I'm pretty sure most developers on this site just do things, at least for their weakest areas of design, resulting in less-than-stellar end results. If only people weighed everything!
...I should probably start doing that. (Truth: I do, which is why Karsuman and I never release anything anymore.)

Nothing will get done if all people consider every single aspect and not release it because they themselves don't like it. Nobody would learn from mistakes without feedback! D:
lol No. Never that!
My list:
Take Down Legacy: Remix
Aptos Adventures (it's still on here, right?)
Necropolis (I'm still playing it, but it is very, very nicely put together so far)
Speak No Evil
Zombie Survival (no it's not a grand epic, but it's a lot of fun, a good pick-up-and-play kind of game)

Instead of manually updating an arbitrary list, maybe you could add more options to the search tool? Like an option to sort games by buzz score, or by number of downloads, or specify a minimum number of reviews.
Ummm.... people can already sort by buzz score and number of downloads, dude.
(Best that I can think of:)
* Alter A.I.L.A Genesis
* Hero's Realm
* A Blurred Line
* RE-Alistair++
* Visions & Voices
There's something we can all agree on. :D

I agree with the first 3 games :p Visions and Voices, to me, is in the above average-borderline-good area, and Alistair isn't really my type so I can't comment.

Oh cool. Come up with other sorting/filtering options, then! Maybe let me filter out games that have bards in them, or sort by number of lolis.
Hi
I don't know if you know who I am, but I just wanted to talk to you about a few other things. I have been contracted by Degica (the company that releases the RM series outside of Japan, and that runs RPGMakerWeb.com) to help them with running their social media.
The first thing is that I will be doing a series of tutorials that release every Tuesday on the blogs. I will be writing some myself, and I will be getting others to help with some others, but I felt it would be a good idea to reach out to the people at your site as well. I am obviously looking for higher quality tutorials, as this will be on the official blog for RPG Maker. The tutorials written will be marked as "By at ", allowing whoever writes them to plug either the forum of their choice, or their own rming blog if they run one.
The second thing I will be doing is organising resources to be made specifically for the blog. These as well, will be run similar to the tutorials, in that they will be listed by username and their site.
The third thing I will be doing is featuring either a game or a specific resource/script maker each Friday. The game will get a short review or the member will get a short interview and a link to their personal blog or their thread on a site, whichever they prefer.
The overall goal here is to use the current blog, which being the official blog for RPG Maker will receive a lot of traffic, to help promote our individual sites, and to promote more sales of the program itself by showing the high quality materials we create in a high profile area.
Thank you for your time and I hope to hear back from you soon,
Nicholas “Touchfuzzy” Palmer
Hi guys,
In addition to finding exemplary games, can you also find some exemplary tutorials (and resources/scripts) on RMN? Thanks.
We have an opportunity to promote our site, and I intend to take advantage of it.
(Although it was not specifically mentioned, I would imagine that we would restricted to games and tutorials/scripts made in the officially translated RPG Maker engines)
Also, I need help sifting! Apparently I missed the fact that One Night was featured on the official RPG Maker Web blog on Oct 29th. Guys, if you see something cool or buzzing or whatever, send me a PM.
