FINAL FANTASY XIII-2.....

Posts

The demo is up on PSN and the XBox... equivalent. I might give it a spin because I'm masochistic I don't learn from previous experiences I'm curious what they changed.
Oh,yes, i was just about to update this topic on that.

XAshe10X uploaded an example of the demo's gameplay. (I don't have wifi. ;^;)

The changes they made are awesome! I <3 it already. My only complaint is Noel's voice actor sounds kind of bad.
Noel's voice is crap. Oher than that, we're all good.
Hm, Mog's voice actor is bullshit :3. But like last time an interactive movie.
I don't see a problem with Noel's voice. Not a fan of the moogle, though. It would probably bother me less if she was named something other than Mog, who I always imagined sounding like this:
Haha, always loved that commercial.
Mogs a girl, so she needy to sound squeeky and cute.

Trivia: noel calls her Piggy Kitty.

The monster system is very awesome, BTW.
A female and male cat sound exactly the same to me, I assumed Mogs were the same ;P
Welp, i might as well write a more complete post now that i'm home.

Battle System - It is the same thing from 13, only the transition from menu to menu and paradigm shifts are much faster. Also.....YOU FINALLY GET MOOLA! YES!

Blood Damage, Cinematic Actions, and Feral Links are nice additions.

Graphics - Nearly identical in style to 13's.

Monsters - YES! I <3 this completely! Especially the fact that you can dress them up! If, for some reason, you hate them, you can remove them completely so there is only Noel and Serah in the party.

Crystarium - I love how it is not tiers anymore. I also noticed that the characters final stats are more on par with earlier titles. (~7000-8000 HP now.)

Equipment - I frown at the fact that there are still no armor slots. I do like the accessory points system, though. My only other complaint is that HP bangles are now percent based, and that there is no equipment upgrading.

DLC's - The costumes are more or less fan service for Serah, and they make Noel look even more badass. The DLC weapons are just there to be there, IMO.

For the arena battles, Omega looks hard as hell. Can't say anything for Light, however.

In short, this is a MASSIVE improvement over the original.

"Mola" is most probably some kind of slang for money. Though I always thought it was "moola"? Technicalities.

On topic: Granted, I've not played many games that have monster recruit systems. Of the ones that I have played, I've hated the monster recruit systems with a passion . As a general rule, I don't care about available DLC. As for everything else I've seen/heard about this game, I'm not quite convinced I should spend money on this. Not yet, anyway.
Oh. Thanks, Marrend!

Edit: Fine, MOG should sound like a guy. We got too many ass shots of Noel, AND I'm wanting this game-I'm poor.... Oh, and shouldn't it be "ugu"? Technicalities.
You guys are very annoying...

Exactly why do you hate monster recruitment systems? I find it expands the gameplay in new directions.

Thanks for point out those Noel shots. I can't stop seeing them now. >V<
So the demo has no level cap...

*resists temptation to spend 10 50 hours grinding to level 99*
IT HAS NO LEVEL CAP?!

*Resolves to reach level 99 before 13-2 comes out.*
After seeing the gameplay video, I finally decided to stay away from this game.

Sure, all the changes sound nice, but the battle system is still basically the same, the camera is all over the place, still no direct control over party characters (kinda, but I still hate the paradigm shift battle system)... No equipment hunting/ugprading worth writing about, just like in FF 13, no stats other than attack, hp and defense again it seems... And quicktime events... instead of watching the epic scene that is happening, you are concentrating on mashing the right buttons. QTE didn't bother me during skills in Dissidia for example, but during story scenes... sigh

The added exploration is a huge plus, but it doesn't fix what was wrong with FF 13, FOR ME anyways. I just hope they would release some FF game that "feels right", like the earlier games did (I recently played FF1 for the first time, and I finished it, liked it much more that FF13 for example, where I only got to Gran Pulse before giving up).

Like maybe a game that has epic story and characters (like FF 6), open world, dungeons, upgraded TB or ATB battle system (or a new one that doesn't take away direct CONTROL from the player), acceptable camera, lots of equipment and SKILLS to get/find, but no random encounters.

It just seems to me that FF 13/13-2 spend too much time looking pretty, rather than actually being great games. But maybe that's just me. If you enjoyed FF 13, that's of course fine, different people like different things, and if it's fun for you, that's all that matters. I just wish for something more, and Square won't be getting my money for this (unless the game comes out and everybody totally flips out about how great it is, then I might reconsider).

The kinds of systems I loathe the most are ones that allow for monstrous allies to grow stronger by being fed certain items. If a game uses this system, the monster generally starts out incredibly weak, and only after ten hours worth (That's just a number I picked out of my head, it's not ment to be representative.) of grinding, and farming for the items that it needs grow, will produce significant results. Maybe this is just me talking, but even with the promise of a really decent party member, it sounds like a waste of time and/or money.

Got this at the midnight release. So far, it's excellent - better than 13 in every way except maybe story.
Meh. I haven't gotten it yet. I'll get it...eventually.
