Hello everyone! Welcome to my review for Blade of Acrimony by Frostnoble. As the title of this review suggests, I never expected to play such a dark game that plays with your emotions and morals! It is really cool and is quite the twist from any RPG maker games that we have played!

First Impressions:

The first thing that I noticed was the cool custom art-works and pixel arts being presented in this game. The title screen already suggested the very dark story that this game is supposed to give us. Starting in heaven and seeing a dark angel fall into the earth in the form of a sword was actually a very cool way to start it out. Was good enough to get me hooked into continuing with the story.

Story:

Now this is where everything goes dark. The story revolves around a girl named Sora who is a very faithful and religious person. She happens to stumble upon the evil sword who deceives her into thinking that he's God, therefore, she must follow his bidding, even if it means slaying all the innocents that come her way. It's all very psychologically appalling seeing Sora slay her dog, her friend and everyone around the neighborhood, thinking it was the will of God. I find it kinda disturbing, but at the same time, intriguing and interesting enough to play further. It is very cool to see such unexpected twist in an RM game. (This is not the first game to have a villain main character though.) It kinda felt like the genocide route of Undertale, only you're forced to do the Genocide route. :p

Gameplay:

Gameplay was smooth and the custom pixel arts as well as animations are very well done! Though some enemies can be very tough, I think the dev designed it so you'll have to grind to weaker enemies first. Take note, when I say enemies, I mean your friendly neighborhood folks. xD I really like the twist in this game's front-view battle system, it was always fun and interesting.

Graphics:

The graphics are really cool! They're vibrant and unique for the game's setting. So vibrant that blood is the most emphasized color. xD Again, the pixel arts are amazing and kudos to the dev for all of the custom assets and battlers. :)

Music:

Music was okay. It was fun enough to keep the pace of the game going. Kinda dramatic at times, too.

OVERALL:

This is a very good game with extremely dark and religious themes. It is something completely new from any RM games that I have played so far, due to its concept and story-line. The game has a ton of effort put into it, what with all the custom assets. I highly recommend you play and experience this psychological thrill yourself. xDD My rating if it were a complete game would be 5/5! ;)
