An honest review.

What can I possibly say than it's absolutely brilliant, something I would definitely pay for and play, time and time again. It's reminiscent of old school final fantasy games which I adore and grew up on. It takes me back to simpler times and rings of nostalgia whilst retaining it's original and unique charm.

The artwork and art style are both wonderful and the battle system again, reminds me of an old school JRPG. The dark storyline is spooky and fascinating at the same time, especially at the start of Chapter 2 and I love the two separate storylines that seem to be unfolding. I was curious if there was meant to be more background music in chapter 1 outside of fights, but it didn't distract from the game as I only thought about this after I finished the chapter and can't recall if there was music at all.

I did find with Vincent that the summoning of his familiars as well as their high MP cost sometimes (but not all the time) felt like a chore and the first two rounds of fights were spent 'setting up'. However, it was rare that I felt like this and I love the work that's been put into his playstyle, particularly with transpose to counter the MP cost of summoning.

Furthermore, I felt (in comparison) that chapter 2 was almost twice the length of chapter 1 and could have been split into two chapters, it felt as though there was a lot of information in that one chapter as it spans multiple areas that in themselves are quite lengthy.

Whilst there are some bugs and some translation typos, the story and conversation flows well and is easy to follow and I cannot wait to play more of the game as it releases (that's if you'll let me continue to playtest).

Overall, I currently place it at an 8/10 personally, due to the minor bugs and translations errors as well as the music, but in all honesty I can see this being a 10/10 in my books. It has everything it needs and you're well on your way to reaching that :)
