Taking a train trip!

Helloooo!
In this game made by Darken in few weeks for A Game By Its Cover 2020. This time the developer used Godot to make this game, unlike the other games I reviewed in the past, Nemoral and Kryopolis, both done using Gamemaker Studio 2.

Unlike the other games, this isn't a survival horror, but rather a... uhm "walking simulator"? I guess this can be a good definition. The game has no dialogues, just walk around, sit, collect coins, and enjoy your trip! Yes, because the plot of this adventure game is pretty simple: you're taking the train to a vacation spot but you realize you might not have enough for the fare on the way back.

He has really nothing to sey but... uhm he's a rhino!

And the trip will take about eight minutes to complete, anyway there will be still something to do and some things to see, anyway I do not want to spoil you this short experience because this i more than an experience that a real game, and has to be seen and heard, music & sound by Cowberry and the art of Shweep are in fact pretty interesting, but let's see them:

First music is rather relaxing, soothing and soft, and the only sounds you will hear are the opening and closing of the doors and the voice of the train announcer. That's all.

Concerning the graphics, well you can see from these pics: it'a simple but really colorful and cute cartoonish style, anyway you have to see it in motion, since there are moving shadows, weather phenomena, and other animations that makes the train a very lively place (where some weird things will happen, anyway play and see by yourself!) despite the lack of passengers! yes, it's not a crowded passenger car, and you also cannot leave it to enter and explore another carriage, but it's ok I guess. I mean it's a game about sitting and relaxing... AND collecting five coins.

Ok, time for me to go now! See you in my next review!

Final Verdict
Train Trip is just what it promise: a trip by train, and that's all, no combat, no real adventure, no puzzles. It's a relaxing experience (except at a certain point... but I won't spoil what happens, by the way you will immediately realize what I mean!). It's a cool short experience, even if being it shorter than ten minutes, I find really difficult to give a rating, also due to the lack of challenges, dialogues and choices. There isn't a lot to do or see. The ending is also abrupt, but on the other hand it's a game with no bugs or errors, and visuals and music are pretty much great. So you may or may not like it, anyway for less than ten minutes... I suggest you to ̶p̶l̶a̶y̶ experience a Train Trip!

Whoa! Thanks for the review! Did not expect to get one for this game since it's so tiny. It was my first Godot game so it was quite difficult to work on it past a certain point. Can't believe it's been 2 years.

Yeah, it's a tiny game but with some peculiar and interesting visuals!
Well I probably saw it two years ago, but I had no chance to try it until now!
I'm in a bit of a hurry at the moment, but I'm curious if you managed to pick pocket the ghost.

I suppose were playing a smooth criminal in this one.

I did, I did. Anyway I must admit that I played the game twice, the second to get all the coins, and I first watched (after the first playthrough) a letsplay on youtube because I totally missed some like this one!
