You're a star... baby!

Hello, and welcome to the review of Sarbaby, a RPG Maker MV game tht was made for a contest, the Driftwood Gaming 6th Annual Build Your Own Game Jam and is a very short (15 minutes) sci-fi adventure by akoniti.

The plot is quite simple: it's the far future and our protagonists live in a... space station? Hi-tech laboratory? No, it's the Starship Festivus, but there is no outside area and just some futuristic indoor locations, so this does not change much.
Well this place is attacked by aliens, and the grown ups apparently aren't good enough to face the invasion, so the heroine that will have to sort things out and win a tough battle against the invaders is a baby, Violet. No, wait a STARbaby!

Game is really easy, linear and simple, it takes place in just seven maps that recreates a part of the futuristic compound where the battle will take place. Yes, there are battles and all takes place in real time as soon as you can find a weapon. But the first problem is escaping the room, since the parents wanted to leve their daughter in a safe area. Oh, like that a starbaby can be contained... no way!

Too young to read or write, but old enough to run with a sword! And kill alien lifeforms with it!

Anyway, back to combat! Violet can use a sword... well, a laser sword of course! You attack pressing the action key, unfortunately hitting enemies also means being wounded in the process (Violet is squishy, anyway there is an armor that can be useful), but do not worry as you can find healing items (baby bottles) scattered here and there, and there is also a medical area with a medical bot that can provide medical assistance! (I admit that I used just the bot to avoid wasting healing items).
Enemies are of different kinds, there are aliens, armored aliens, armored aliens with blasters and... something even more dangerous! But you have to power to save anywhere, anytime!

Besides combat there are also a couple of simple tasks needed to complete the game and get access to the various rooms. Nothing difficult, just press buttons, pull things and collect items, so totally nothing challenging if you take your time and avoid enemies, watching the health bar to avoid surprises.

Graphically the game is cute, and surprisingly besides the Rtps it also includes some custom drawn cutscenes (used in the ending scene or when you collect ), that's a plus! Maps are ok, there is not much to say, as this can be seen as a single level action game. I'd use the term "simple" but I guess I've used it too much in this review.
Music and sounds are appropriate, baby cries & laser sounds!

WHAT IS THAT THING? Ok, it was also present on the menu screen, still that's really scary!

Final Verdict
Well since this was made for a contest, I'll be a bit generous anyway it's a little cute game, not too difficult to complete and with some custom art. Nice indeed.
In the end this is a tiny game that will provide twenty minutes of fun, nothing else but nothing wrong with that! Approved!
