Overview

LanVodis is an experimental treasure-hunting and overworld navigation game made in RPG Maker 2000.

  • Get (re)oriented. Learn how to make your way through the overworld without the traditional givens of RPG travel. With vision limited by distance and terrain, you'll survey the land not from above but from within. Overcome disorientation and dislocation by relying on the ground itself.

  • Get intimate. Familiarize yourself with the contours of the map as you cross and re-cross its regions and take in the physical environment. Learn the distinguishing features and terrestrial pathways the earth has offered up to fashion your own mental map and find your way with ease.

  • Stare at treasure maps. Obtain maps at Georb Shrines and compare them with the landscape to locate the 6 Georbs hidden across the map. Finding them all will test your growing interpretation of the shape of the world.

Estimated playtime: 90-180 minutes.

This looks really interesting. Subscribed and waiting for a download.
Ahh! So happy to see LanVodis also here! Best of luck, Sräe!
I thought at first that this game looked way too cool to not have an active download. I really wanted to play it! :( Then I saw that you have to manually click on Downloads first to see the download. So maybe you want to include the default download button at this gamepage, as it would be a pity if people miss the game thinking there's no download option at all.

I'll play the game tonight and give feedback if you like. :)
Okay, I tried to play this game, but it didn't work. No key works, neither the arrow keys, nor enter or space bar. It makes no difference whether in full screen or windowed mode. I tried all keys I could think of, but no way to do anything to start up the game.

That's strange, I played this game a couple days ago and it all worked correctly. I'll say this, it's a really cool original concept, which is what appealed to me when I first came across it. However, I would like to open it up within the editor to have a look at how the blacked out tiles function. During game play the movement was pretty chunky/choppy, I assume every tile you move and the screen being updated to black out different tiles could create a bit of overhead depending on how it was achieved especially with an older computer such as mine. Feed back wise I would say, I wish the game window was bigger and you could see a little more of your surroundings before the edges black out as it tends to feel a bit claustrophobic to me In it's current state personally. I do think it's an awesome original concept though and with a bit of refining it could be an awesome exploration game.

Ah, I had no clue! Thanks for letting me know about this. I'm not sure what's up with the keys not working, but someone mentioned a similar issue on itch, so I'll try and pay attention for solutions. RM2K doesn't afford me any power over the controls in the main menu, so I wonder if this is a matter of an old engine not playing well with modern machines... :s
