Final Fight!

Good day!
Are you ready for an ultra-fast game? Ten minutes, that's all you need to play and finish this game called The Coins and the Crown, a game made by kiriyubel realized with RPG Maker VX Ace that surprisingly doesn't involve coins or crowns (or even the possibility to save)!
The game is introduced by a LOOOONG cutscene that explains the plot:

The Goddess has been kidnapped by and evil Demon King that plans to sacrifice her to get the Ultimate Power! We're the acolyte that is destined to save her or... face a fate worse than death, probably!
Our young hero goes to the Demon's palace, the situation seems desperate but... the Demon King propose to play a game: they will take turns sacrificing one to three dark spirits each turn. The trick is that there are 24 dark spirits AND the Goddess (for a total of 25, forming a 5x5 square), who takes the Goddess wins! Easy? Well not so much!
The game is all here, really! Take turns and try to take the Goddess. Good luck!

OPS! Looks like we're going to lose! Too bad, I'm sorry!

I mean the only option/dialogue choice lets you start with the first turn or accept and let the Demon King stat first, anyway I do not see a lot of difference.

So game is super-simple, but what about the rest? Well graphics and music are Rtps but they are used well (facesets and characters match, there are no errors in the cutscenes): the cutscene in the beginning is well made, and so are the few maps (4-5), I really wish it was possible to explore them but no, we never have a chance to move the characters.
And, biggest problem nor we have the option to save until you play the game once and you wait the end of the credits! This means that if you aren't patient (like me!) and skip that part, you will have to restart the game, and no, you cannot skip the intro cutscene or the instructions. EVER! Sigh. That's really odd since I expected a save *before* the action started, not after!
On the other hand, after the first run you will have various options, like an alternate scenario that is the opposite: if here we have "take the Goddess", the alternate scenario is "avoid the Witch"! It's fun!

There are also several typos during the intro ("dengerous" for example appears two times, "patiance", "appeard"), and I counted at least four despite the shortness of that part (2-3 minutes?). What a shame. Anyway for the rest there aren't other problems but hey, that's a game that will take you probably just five minutes per single run, so... that's not a lot to say. Let's finish this review that with the...

Final Verdict
Here we are. Ok, this is an extremely short game whose name derives from a variant of the puzzle/riddle where the two players (in this case the acolyte and the Demon King) battle taking turns. It's pretty much well done, except for the typos and the impossibility skip the intro (at least you can do that and save after the first game)... but yes, there is not a lot to play and it features just two endings (a good and a bad one) and a couple of alternate modes that are not so mich different, so I guess this is an ok game with some minor flaws. I appreciate the idea even if I'd have liked moar, I mean more dialogues, explorations and puzzle but yes, for this time, being the first game it's ok. Not a problem, better luck next time then!

Thank you for the review!

This is the first game I've ever made and I appreciate the input. About the issues you found in the game, thank you for bringing them to my attention. I'll do my best to address them:

- about the "no exploring, no free movement" issue: this game is a short one. at the beginning I thought about having the player move around and interact but I realized it just didn't add anything to this particular game, so I made it a visual novel game instead (I do have a sequel planned that will be longer and will have a lot more free movement like traditional RPGs).

- about the typos: English is not my main language so that's not surprising, I'll go over the intro and try to spot the typos but if you can tell me exactly where they are it'll help.

- And about the "no save, no skipping, restart the game" issue: Did you watch the credits to the end? You can save after they ends, for a reason ;) Seriously, if you've gone past the credits and needed to restart the game this is actually a major issue with the game, please tell me about it!

Once again, thank you very much for your review!

Edit: I've found and fixed all the typos mantioned in the review, and have updated the downloads. If you spot other typos or issues please let me know.
Considering this is your very first game, it wasn't bad. I liked the spirits minigame even though I haven't beat it. The battle system seems quite unique. Is it all done with events? If so, it's really nice work.

Thank you!
Don't give up, it would probebly help to treat it more as a puzzle then a game.
I wouldn't call it a battle system, but yes this is all events, glad you like it!
Hello! Thanks for the reply, I'll answer right now!

I understand and I respect that choice, anyway I always prefer a bit of interaction, for example see some of the last game I reviewed, like for example "Astronomer & Witch" that is structured about combat only but there are two maps, and one of them just add to the story. I mean, it's not much, and probably many players would totally skip that part, but I had fun checking things and learn about the background of the story. In some other games there is a small map to explore and then you are prompted to save just before the game begins.
But yeah, that's my opinion of course!

Yes, I understand, anyway I'm probably a bit focused on these problems because English is not my language too! So while I cannot judge the writing style or other refinements I limit myself to signal those things that stand out and are more noticeable. Unfortunately aside for evident errors (that sometimes I refrain to point out since in some cases I am not so sure about what is correct and what it not) I cannot give help on inproving writing. My english is pretty bad ehehehehe!

WHAAAT? Really??? How? I played the game about three times and I do not remember this at all!
I will check and edit the review then!

EDIT: ok, fixed! I remember watching the credits but probably these were too long that I skipped to the main menu!
You really don't need luck to beat this game.
Yeah. Probably I am just really bad at it I guess lol!
Yeah, I can guess that based on this line from your review.

Going first or second during the ritual is really important. You can absolutely making winning at the ritual impossible based on that decision alone. This is because the Demon King is programmed to play the game perfectly and your only chance to prevent this is to know if you need to go first or second in order to hit the correct number sequence you need to follow in order to win.
