Forest Life is a fishing + life-sim inspired by Animal Crossing (and similar cozy games) with a nostalgic GameBoy aesthetic.

Play as a young traveling beaver among other woodland creatures. You’re the newest resident of (insert your town name) in the middle of an idyllic forest that’s perfect for fishing and making friends! However, the townsfolk have suffered a series of earthquakes that have caused serious damages to roads and buildings. Is there anything you can do to help them?

Forest Life’s gameplay revolves around catching and selling fish. You can use the money you’ve earned to pay for the Town Restoration Project to repair buildings and clear up roads in the forest to access more fishing spots (and new fish species). Catch fish for villagers, strengthen your friendships, and interact with them through cutscenes. The game mechanics are simple and relaxing. There’s around 3-4 hours of gameplay to reach the end, or you can more than double your playtime by diving into the side content.

Customize your home with over 150 pieces of unique furniture, floorings, and wall hangings. Upgrade and expand your rooms! The Trendy Home Magazine may even review and give feedback on your home!

Over 30 (31 to be exact) fish to catch! Upgrade your fishing rod to reel in bigger fish! Sell them to make money or donate your catch to the local aquarium. You can visit the aquarium and view your fish in its new habitat at any time.

The townsfolk are excited to make new friends. Help them out to receive gifts and letters. Watch their stories unfold as your friendships grow!

Explore the Forest. You’ll meet characters, solve a few puzzles, discover secrets, and maybe uncover the truth behind the recent earthquakes.

This looks so cutee! I'll try and play it sometimee! X>
I love what I've played so far! Everything feels quite chill. One question:

Is there a way of knowing before you cast your line that some of the fish will need better bait/a better rod? I've run into a couple fish that I couldn't pull closer to me, and I didn't notice anything different about them visually.

I'm glad you like it so far! Every fish can be caught with the basic rod, but it gets increasingly difficult if you don't upgrade it. Even the biggest fish can be reeled in with a basic rod if the player times the reeling just right.

So far, most fish shadows look the same to make every catch a surprise :) And the farther away from town, the tougher the fish will be. But I may add stronger visual cues in a future update. Thanks for playing!
