"INDESCRIBABLE HORRORS!"

"TEN MEN PERISH IN A BURNING RAILROAD CAR; CAUGHT LIKE RATS IN A TRAP!"

-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Such read the headlines of quite a few local newspapers following a harrowing night of terror. It was the mid 1880s - circus trains traveling cross-country on the new transcontinental railroads were becoming a more common sight for many Americans. Take control of Solomon Grey, the strict manager of Orville's All-American Circus, as he navigates his daily duties within the troupe. Although... he's been getting some disturbing nightmares lately. Ones that happen to involve a fiery demise. Perhaps that type of thing is avoidable...?

This game was created for the They Walk Among Us gamejam event of Halloween 2023. It's loosely based on the true (and very obscure) story of the 1884 circus train fire in Weld County, Colorado. I came across it while doing some research on other circus tragedies and found it pretty interesting. Hope you enjoy!

I find your game a promising combination of historical intrigue, interactive storytelling, and a touch of the supernatural. The combination of disturbing nightmares and the suggestion that they might portend a fiery death adds an eerie element to the story. The emphasis on dialogue and choices suggests a branching plot with multiple endings, which further heightens player engagement. The use of custom cell sets, historically accurate circus music, custom visuals, house of hazards and cutscenes demonstrate your dedication to creating a visually and audibly immersive experience.
