FIRST: If you've been anticipating this game, I'm dreadfully sorry for the massive delay between when I said I would have it up and now! Life loves to throw me tons of hurdles, and until now this had taken more of a backseat to them hurdles.

Our main heroes, a couple in their mid-20s, are enjoying just another day when news breaks that a town not so far away has been all but wiped from the map. Being fairly patriotic to their home land, they join the regional military in hopes of overcoming the enemy. Little do they know, however, that they're in for an adventure that will take them places they've only barely dreamed of..

Pretty basic feature list coming from the top of my head, so this might not include everything, but here's some random tidbits:

+ touch-based battle encounters (aside from overworld)
+ weapon leniency (basically any character has at least three possible weapons at their disposal)
+ learning a magic spell requires magic gemstones and proper leveling
+ modifiable scenery (specifically, jars, crates, and barrels)
+ enemy health bars in battle
+ custom experience modifiers (dependent on number of live characters in party)
+ optional side-quests

Hopefully I've done well enough as far as towns go - they're not typically my strongest suit, and I have a lot more of them than I did in Staff of Cyrenia.

Feedback is always appreciated as long as it's not straight-up bashing (i.e. constructive criticism is welcome).

The Finishing Touches - January 24, 2010

I am, as of last night, 100% through everything in this game! Just replaying through to spot & kill any possible glitches or whatnot.

I've gone through & decided to make the game slightly less linear in ways - you can go pretty much anywhere at any time once you're free to roam the world, but the main storyline events still will trigger in the proper order. So.. be gutsy! Explore places before you're supposed to. Grab treasures early! None of it should bug up.. well until you get yourself into a battle you can't win or escape. ^_^

But yeah. Pretty much just playtesting now. Full game up within a few days.

Cool cool, if you guys want to at any point in time you can message me on here and let me know what you liked about the game, perhaps didn't like about the game, what level you were when you did this or that thing, etc.. all for good fun of course. Otherwise.. I'll stay up on the assistance when necessary, haha.
Hi Goldenguy, did you get a chance to fix the round inset problem at the mines? I am at that part and I went to get the left and then right key halves but it still wont work.
It appears that the map fix was just now accepted. Go ahead and grab that, and copy those files into the Data folder, overwriting the old maps.

I take it when you got the key halves, they weren't automatically combined to make the full key? The patch will fix that - all you gotta do if you have both key halves is enter one side or the other, and it should happen automatically.

Oh, and if you were somehow rewarded the same half twice from the chests, it should fix that as well.
This might seem a stupid question, but where are the maps located? I don't have A data folder
Gah, how much of a dope could I be.. of course you don't have the data folder because I encrypted the archives.. so now I will upload the encrypted game archive, and then people can download THAT to replace the current "Game" RGSS encrypted file there.

*major head-desk*

The data fix has been accepted in the submissions now. Let me know how (and if) it works!
I copied the file on the game folder and I still cant combine the two key parts. Am I suppose to be doing something else?
I went in and troubleshooted myself. I feel like such a retard. Once AGAIN I didn't program the fix properly. The fix only worked apparently if you had two of the same key halves, because in the check for both different ones, I managed to have it check for the same one.

The new fix is going to be uploaded very shortly, and hopefully will be up ASAP. This one should definitely work 100%. Sorry for all the inconveniences! This is the bad thing about being the only playtester and testing things as you expect them to go.. ^_^

I assume the enemies in the prisons aren't meant to be challenged, as they deal 40+ damage to level 8 characters.
I think you might have missed an equipment upgrade. There are new weapons in Damaros (the town of interest), if I recall. Those mice should definitely NOT be doing 40+ damage.

They're totally optional though - not facing any of them shouldn't hinder you from anything in the future, unless you hate missing out on the 5% chance of an Antidote drop :P

Yeah, I just purchased the defense upgrades in Damaros, and went back to the second city to give Dirk offensive magic. Leveled to 9. Going to try it now.
Have at it! If you wish to do so, those rats make for great level-grinding, since you have a diminished party for much of the jails, and the game doles out bonus EXP for parties smaller than 4. Just gotta be ready to heal if necessary if you do that, though.

Much easier now.

Edit: That's the downside to having a dynamic defensive stat: missing one armor upgrade can throw off the balance.

Bigtime EXP bonus. I just grabbed the healer, and my other three members are three levels higher (12 and 9, respectively).

Also, magic seems to do fairly weak damage; maybe the rats are resistant to fire.
Indeedy - and in this game, the character statistical attributes increase rather slowly, while the newer equipment increases rather dramatically.

The rats don't have any resistance or weaknesses - the first fire spell's base damage is 25, which admittedly is only very useful pretty early on in the game.

I'm in the area with the little dudes. Pretty tough area, but I'm not sure if I missed an equipment upgrade. My only problem are the two mages, since I didn't have the cash to give them the good headgears at the desert shops. Can't go back now.
Ouch - yeah, the mage headgear in Damaros would account for roughly a 9HP difference.

Those little guys are annoying, but once you're past that area, it'll be much easier to get to some newer equipment.

Hi Goldenguy,
Last available patch is dated 06/26/2010 10:32 PM what is happening with the latest fix for the mine key halves mate?.
The patch is fixed and current. It's dated 6/26 on the site because that was the original upload date. I refreshed all of the downloads yesterday, so fresh downloads of this game and my other game (The Staff of Cyrenia) don't need the patch.
Goldenguy, I re-downloaded the game file and transferred my old save file but still nothing happens? Do I have to do the mines part again for it to work?

Edit: Nevermind, I played the mines part again and its working right now.
How do we go to fight the wizard? The log book says to pass the volcanic pass but there is no way out?
