A "prequel" to the game The New Earth, it sort of explains the rather odd title of the first game. More coherent than The New Earth, it will hopefully tie in gaps the first left behind.

In Earth's distant future, most of its religions known today decline or change. As a result of this spiritual upheaval, the barrier between the spiritual world and the physical one falter, and ghouls and demons are loosed upon the earth. Ultimately, most of these are resealed by the new religions, but one such demon named Belial, requires nothing short of sealing by angels to put back to rest.

Thousands of years later, a beggar named Ambrosia Brahmin picks herself off the street only to be sent on a fetch quest by God, joined by swordsman, a shaman, a thief, a druid, an exorcist, an angel, and a demon. Meanwhile, the demon from eons before, sealed in a jar, is slowly being unsealed by a duped wizard, given false promises of rewards that await him...

Features
-Day/night system.
-A weather system.
-Seasons system, complete with a calendar.
- A cellphone event, which includes a GPS, banking, a pizza event which restores hp anywhere if you have the money, and a help event.
-A party change map (not the best one possible, but it's kinda looks like the End of Time in Chrono Trigger). Also has several conveniences, like banks and healers.
-Banking, including ATMs and interest (just tested it, worked after a bit of tweaking).
-A variant death system with half money loss.
-Each character has their own style of battle.
-Character sidequests with item or ability rewards.
-Plot is actually designed so that events advance with the help system, so if you get farther in the game, the help will be different, and vice versa.
-Several custom menus, including an item storage
-Numerous plugins to enhance gameplay (particularly icons for conditions, but also stuff like text naming for steal events)
- Environmental Condition System (ECS) for battle: Depending on what terrain you stand on, and even whether it's day or night, the battle system changes.
- BetterAEP opening menu.

(Semi)Pacifist Run

So, having played Undertale and thoroughly enjoyed it, I latched upon an idea of having a similar style to the game. The thing is, I am coming from a different place than Undertale, so it was less an absolute pacifist game and at best, a boss only run.

The game mechanics involves donating items, similar to how offering meat to the critter in Zelda 1 (or food in BotW) distracts the critter. The battle does not count as a victory (kill) and you may or may not get many items, but you earn exp and gold. Besides avoiding bad endings, certain enemies have karma attacks, which can be devastating if you went kill crazy. Also, Ambrosia's Tao command is most effective when your karma is unstained as too much bad karma makes it backfire.

This requires large amounts of fishing, mining, and/or stealing and selling, but it's kinda cool to just bribe some critter off with huge amounts of fish or something. I might tone down the amounts later, but anyway.

Alright, the Opening right? I'll replace it.

I'm gonna make a special download link with a note to what's wrong.

Oh! Could you check the intro? My conversion system of mp3 files may be suspect. I have a few spoken lines in the intro.
I just downloaded the game along with the mp3 file and unzipped the mp3's into the game folder and I go to run the game and keep getting a error "subscript out of range (1)"

what have I done wrong?
The most recent download for the game is Oracle of Tao_32.exe

If you have that one, then you don't need the Not Implemented Bugfix_1.zip

Since I don't know exactly what you did, I think you should delete the game, then reinstall, then try to play it without adding anything to it.
I had used your link to RPGRevolution to get it and when I read your reply I realized that I didn't have the right download. Am redownloading it now and will let you know what happens.
Whew! Patching the sound actually reduced the size of my game by 8MB.
I shouldn't take all of those bounties in start, I'm getting too much Game Over lol ;(
Btw loved the Legend of Mana ost in here, it's one of my fav JRPG ^.^
Yea, they can be tough (recommended starting level is 25-30, and ending level is 75+ with you actually fighting an Elder God. Why? Because it's awesome).

I don't know where you get the raw pic for your title background, the meaning of the Chinese characters not correspond to the right 卦(trigrams), and the orientation of the Chinese scripts is inconsistent.

You can make some changes to your pic as:

☰(乾 qián)sky
☵(坎 kǎn)water
☶(艮 gèn)mountain
☳(震 zhèn)thunder
☴(巽 xùn)wind
☲(离 lí)fire
☷(坤 kūn)earth
☱(兑 duì)lake

TRIGRAM can be a useful prop for some RPGs, can be used as MAGICs, and search for the missing trigrams is a good thread for this kind of story. In this case, the scripts like this ☰ should correspond to the Chinese characters like this 乾. By the way, if you want to make some changes to your previous pic, you can move Chinese phonetic alphabet(like qián...) away, and replace them to their English meaning(like sky...). If you're not gonna have the TRIGRAM's real meaning in your RPG, you can keep your previous pic.

I made some small changes to your pic:

I hope this piece of suggestion will be useful to ya.
Well, it's moot point time, since I ended up using this from PepsiOtaku.

The reason it's messed up, is that I merged the inner part with the outer part. I just fit it, so yea this is totally messed up. I can't even do some sort of rotation to fix it.

I remove the "The" from Oracle of Tao in my final version, but no messing with the name of the trigrams. And yes, I know the trigrams in English (but not in Chinese).

God, I need LockeZ or someone as a full-time debugger. I have no idea (getting that too, last time I checked). Usually, this means an error with the thing teleporting outside of range. The problem is, if you're starting the game there shouldn't be any subscripts to run yet.

I just got that on my home computer but not on my desktop one. Hopefully, I can find a clean copy that doesn't do that.

Okay, progress. I pull Plugins and patches, and get "the file Title1 cannot be opened." One, it isn't taking a certain plugin/patch, and two, a file is missing/unreadable. I'll figure out the patch that isn't working.

Remove DynMode7 and Pathfinder. They're not the culprit, but I don't use them anymore, and they cause other problems. Moving on. Removed all Plugins, and it continued to crash. It's a Patch not a plugin.

Okay, it's RPG_RTP_custsaveload. Fuck! Some help here? Something's interfering with it.
Change the position of the if and else cases, i found the same problem few months ago and after the change, it returned to work.
I think it's a question of priorities in the execution of cases.
Wait, for which?

I fixed the issue by doing something completely different. Apparently, there was also a conflict with betterAEP and customsaveload. So removing both, and having the merged file fixed the issue.

You have to completely remove the patch file and put this here, of totally remove the two offending files. I'm not sure if I still need saveswitch_1005.
oh strange, but not impossible ^^
Gonna try this game, wish me luck

Edit: Time for a mini-review!

Sorry, but I can't play this, it feels like a unfinished mess with tons of features added just because "it's cool"

I was writing what comes to mind while playing , here is:

- I talk with this old woman and then... I have no idea what happens, everything is very random

- I want to save the game ... and for that I opened about 3 menus , I experiment a bit with the custom text boxes but It was difficult to read the text or ugly colors, or both

- I start the game at level 99, great...

- Cloud , I mean, Nevras joins my team for no reason

- I'm noticing that rain occurs randomly but is very short I even get to last less than a second, making it useless

- I found a "magic door" to... save the game , unnecessary...

- I found the cemetery , despite being level 99 these enemies are a little hard

- They killed Ambrosia and Nevras can not escape by itself, I have to wait for them to kill Nevras , Nevras has 9200 hp and ghosts can only take maximum 200 hp when using dark ( but sometimes they do 0 damage ), but repeatedly decide to attack ( 0 damage) or cast lullaby (sleep) , Nevras can't hurt them, here is when I thought , this is a disaster

If I had to rate this game it woulb be a 0.9/5, it needs tons of work

Sorry man, I can't play this game, I hope you can fix many of the problems, good luck

(Btw, I used google translate, sorry for any errors)
It's actually finished. But yea, it is a mess.

#2: Yea, ummm that's a menu that I but together. I'd suggest finding a color you like then (it's set up so you can replace). Being able to read the game is a priority, and I literally drove myself nuts trying to find a font that matched with every background imaginable.

#1: Essentially, a girl grows up on the streets, talks to a shopkeep about getting food and gets booted out. She gets a handout from a nearby stranger, and uses the money to pay for food (which then gets stolen by nearby critters). It's kinda weird, but it sorta works.

#3: Thanks for telling me about the level 99 thing. I'd forgotten that I was playtesting. I'm gonna make sure the version you're playing instead a "start-in-the-middle-of-the-game" playtest.

#4: He's defending you from attack, because thugs are trying to beat you up.

#5: The time is random, but the shortest time seems to be very short indeed. I got sick of tooling around with it, so I just kept it sort of short, since I had alot to work with.

#6: I had portals per town. But then, it was annoying to walk across town (some of the bigger towns esp) just to save. The save point is actually so you can heal and party-switch.

#7: They're undead. Don't mess with them without a priest.

#8: Yea, this is because at level 99 (which btw, they're not supposed to be), Nevras would have higher defense than their attack. Resulting in 0 damage. Also, godammit. I have a fence around it. I have a message that usually displays getting you to leave. I have an old woman who sells jars for free that you can use on the enemies. Why in God's name are you still having this issue?

Okay, I understand players can have high expectations. But I worked for about a year and a half on it. And you do a playtest that basically wastes the entire thing. I can't help you if you want to run off to a training zone that you aren't ready for, and then rate the game poorly because you don't understand how to play it.

I can however, give you a tutorial if you ask for one.
Okay. Yea, I can't do anything about the level 99 until maybe my next patch. But joins for no reason, you mean he was already in the party? Then it was definitely a testplay. I playtest the game sometimes, then, well life happens and sometimes stuff is in weird places because I didn't remember. Definitely an attention deficit thing.

Question: do you have an intro and start screen or do you just show up in town.

However, I'll give you a simple walkthrough.

Okay, walk around the edge of town. Notice how shabby it looks? Urban sprawl of crappy duplicate houses? Soldiers on the walls? An outdoor bed? Yea, this town sucks. So how about we leave it (at least to come back later).
Talk to either the priest or one of the two shopkeeps. Doing this will trigger some cutscenes. After that, try to leave. The guards at the south will attack you. This is where Nevras is supposed to join, if not, tell me. And yes, he's an obvious Cloud clone.
Outside the town, you can try to train, but I'd hold off until you have a third party member. In town, there's like a blonde girl with pigtails. You need to do what she says so you can sneak inside. Before you go in however, you need to sell the evidence. Repeatedly. Then you need to buy better weapons/armor, and now grinding couldn't hurt. Then fact your first boss. He's not offensively tough, but he's obnoxious because he's a healer.
Talk to girl inside, and you have a battle using mirror images. The wrong one dies, and you fail the test. So, be defensive with most of the party, and attack just with Ambrosia (don't equip with your best stuff, because you definitely don't want to one-hit). This triggers a custscene which gives you a new skill, so pay attention. She gives you advice to climb the nearby mountain. Do so, and when you're at the top fight the kitty. After that, you get a boat route (use it in town by buying a ticket at the other exit), and travel to the next island. That should get you started.
Also the zombies? Remember them if you need to train. They're hard, but with a priest, you can get crazy experience quickly.

However, I'll give you a simple walkthrough.

- I just thought that Nevras joins your team for no reason , as if the character was forced, and no, you don't start with Nevras

- There was a title screen , there was also the option to see the intro (I skipped it)

- Thanks for the walkthrough, but I will wait for you to fix the levels before returning to test your game

Good luck
Sounds fine. Looks like I fixed the level 99 thing. Also got rid of the extra menu, and extended the weather time. I'll upload soon, but before that, can you find other issues? It would be silly to just do a couple quick fixes only for you to find something major.

Huh, I unistalled the game, I don't want to download 100 Mb again until a new version is up
Okay then, I'll just look at the thing myself and edit anything I notice.

It may take a day or two, I've got jobs to do.
