World's Dawn developer let's play

Hey everyone! Wow, it's been a long time O.O

I wanted to drop by because I'm returning to World's Dawn three years after release (!) for a developer let's play. I'll be going through a good chunk of the game with a friend and sharing behind-the-scenes stories, community comments, and laughs aplenty. I thought some fellow RM folks might be interested in how the project came together and why certain decisions were made, that sort of thing.

I've been going through a bit of a rough patch lately, so this cozy, casual series has been a good way to decompress and stay connected with other players and developers. If you think you might enjoy it, there are a few episodes up on YouTube already and more to come very soon! And please do let me know what you think. I've never recorded anything like this before, so feedback is certainly welcome.

Thanks all! I really appreciate the support this community has given me over the years.

I don't want to sound too rude or pushy, but do you know (or an estimate) of when the summer bit is going to be relased? And if you do add a summer bit, does ths mean we will have to make a new save file?

Oh, and there is also this:

I'm pretty sure it's just a forgetful error, It happens XD and that one is in the town hall, and I think there are also some like those in the other buildings too, if I'm not mistaken

According to his last blog post, he expects to have the Summer season ready around July or August.
Any updates on the Summer Season?

EDIT: Pardon the double post.
Sorry for the lack of updates recently! Development on the summer season is in full swing. I don't have an official release date for it yet, but you can expect more updates to start trickling in soon. I'll try to get a new blog post up within the next couple days with some screenshots.

You should receive the pick axe from someone when you enter the quarry the first time. Then all you need to do is stand next to a rock and press the action button.

EDIT: The quarry is nearby the empty fishing supply shop. Look for some stepping stones.
I believe I may have come across a glitch. Recently I started my third play through of the Spring Season. This time it has been very rainy. At first I just chalked it up to bad luck. However, I have had nearly a full week of rain. The only break I had was the Misty Music Festival. After that it was back to rain.

I sent you a link to my save file.

Thank you in advance for your help.

EDIT: It started raining again right after the Misty Music Festival and only stopped for the second spring market.
EDIT 2: Pardon my double post.

Thanks for pointing out that glitch... it definitely sounds like something is off if there's been weeks straight of rainy days. I should have some time soon to take a look at the save file you sent and hopefully figure things out.
Love the spring season, I'm on my third playthrough <3
One little thing I noticed is on your page for character descritpions Bloom is supposed to like Candy Juice but he doesn't take it in the game. Was there a mistake?
Thanks for all the great work!

Thanks for getting back to me Sagitar. I will likely end up starting a new game regardless. While all the rain did have some benefits, it prevented me from accomplishing certain things. Good luck tracking down this glitch.

Out of curiosity. Is the weather randomized on non-festival days or can I expect a set weather pattern with each season.

I encountered the same issue with Bloom not accepting Candy Juice.

To borrow a quote from Sagitar in response to my query on this subject from an earlier 'blog

As for the two issues you found with people mentioning the wrong gifts... I believe Senah is treating grapes correctly, she's just calling them the wrong thing. And for Bloom, for some reason I listed his gifts wrong on the website. He actually likes Cacao Chocolate, Water Sundew, and Culinary Sugar. Sorry for the trouble! I'll fix that on the site as soon as I get a chance. And thanks for pointing that out.

Oh man, I can't believe I forgot to change that... Yes, Bloom's information is wrong on the website, so you should go by the list nhubi posted to give him gifts. I will change that soon, I promise this time!

Also, Aurora_Paradox: the weather is randomized, except for on certain days like special events and festivals. So it is theoretically possible for it to rain for weeks straight, but highly unlikely.

Out of curiosity, what did the rain keep you from accomplishing? There's one or two things I can think that it might be but it'd be great to know for sure.

The only thing I can think of that the rain would adversely affect is hunting for worms for fishing, since your dog won't go out in the rain (smart dog).
Hey there, I was bored and I decided to do a second play through to satisfy my craving for World's Dawn Summer Season (as would many fans too) and when the game asked me for a LockBall code, I was wondering if there was a way to continue my score from my first file (8 wins 0 losses, I unfortunately didn't realize the money-making potential LockBall has until about halfway through spring) but I want to continue my score. My LockBall handbook doesn't have a code. Or maybe I'm just being an idiot here.

I'm putting what the rain prevented me from doing in spoiler tags.

The main thing the rain prevented me from doing was adopting the cat. I checked all over and couldn't find the cat on days when it rains.

The second thing is that it prevented me from playing Lockball.

The third thing is that the rain made it very difficult to get my cow settled in.

That covers everything I can think of at the moment.

Good Luck tracking down this glitch. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you track it down.
I haven't even started playing this game, just on the introduction and I am already fully in love with this game... Let me love you for giving us the option of romancing both male and female, I really appreciate that!

I am gonna so enjoy this one, so beautiful!
SP15, the LockBall code is actually for when you've played the separate LockBall game that can be found here -- not for multiple playthroughs of World's Dawn. Sorry for the confusion!

Aurora, I believe I've fixed that glitch for the future season (it had something to do with the preset weather for a certain day) but I guess we'll see. I apologize again for the problem!

ahmed, thanks so much for the kind words. I really hope you enjoy the game, and the more inclusive romance options help you do so. Can't wait to hear more of your thoughts!

The summer season isn't too far off, all. Look forward to updates soon!

No apology needed. You have created a game that eclipses Harvest Moon. Very few games of this type ever get off the drawing board because of their complexity. Thank you for all the effort you have put into this game.

Thank you for tracking down the bug. I plan on starting a new play through once you release the summer season. I'll keep an eye out for it.
The only thing I'm not looking forward to is having dig up the glass bottles. Last time I got lucky and found one very early on.
thank you @Aurora_Paradox

BTW i cant wait until aummer season is avible im so exited
Has progress on this stalled? The last update was last month. Hope the Summer chapter comes out soon in any case!
I wouldn't say progress has stalled, but the summer season is definitely taking longer to finish up than expected! My first round of playtesting resulted in a lot of little issues popping up, so I've been taking time to get those sorted out rather than release a buggy game.

Sorry to everyone who is still patiently waiting -- it won't be long now! I'm going to write a blog post soon detailing specific plans for release. And thanks as always for your support =)
