Since A Knight of Eden is pretty much done, or at least for the moment, I've officially started working on this. I have the preliminary worldmap of Valhalla finished... although I'm not going to show it. Why? It's ugly. Why is it so ugly? Well, because this game is essentially very different than the first. Instead of a wide open world like Pangea, Valhalla is a series of caverns, one leading into another seamlessly. Towns are actually a part of these caverns, so you won't be teleporting from a bird's eye view to scale, you'll be scale the whole time.

Don't worry though, dungeons are as before. I hope to make them prettier this time around, as I am not limiting myself graphically to the extent that I did in the first game. It'll still have a very oldschool look to it though, and I hope to create an atmosphere not seen in traditional RPGs of the NES days.

In case anyone was worried about this being a smaller project than the first, believe me, it isn't. It's going to be much larger in all ways. Valhalla is actually bigger than Pangea, although very slightly, but the game will also see you traveling back to Pangea and seeing how much it has changed.

The battle system has been upgraded, as you'll have a second playable character following you along. You get to choose from 10 different characters, each with their own abilities and obtainable skills. While your main character progresses much as he did in the first game, your second character will buy their skills. And yes, some of the playable characters available to you are familiar faces. The story is quite a bit more complex this time around.

Aside from that, nothing else has been done. I just started this today, and spent hours on the Valhalla map. It has seven separate areas and the 8th is the outside area, the Valhalla of dreams. I figured I'd at least update so people know it's now in production. Release date will hopefully be around August or September.

About the world map, it has seven separate areas, but how big is each area roughly? 100x100, or bigger?
Hmm, they're quite varied in size. The First one is I would guess 100x250. But one of them is almost twice that, and another one is about half of it. They have a really bad "My First RPG" feel to them lol, twisty but not maze-like. Of course I aim to fix that soon. I'm gonna be playing a lot of rm games in preparation to get some ideas.
