Theoretically this could be done using plain old steam 2k3 but I am using a 3rd party patch known as the Maniac Patch, which does a whole bunch of things, but the killer feature here is drawing text boxes with arbitrary strings anywhere on the screen.

yeah I think how convenient is to draw strings affect how much can be done not just technically but motivation wise. I cannot imagine doing this with static show pictures and not lose my soul
