This page is for discussion and feedback for the game, "The Beginning."
Also I think before anyone continues to play I'm going to reload the game without the running-bug that everyone is telling me about.

hey ravenite1 I think I finished the demo! :))
I liked the story, it seems like it will build towards an interesting drama.
Allright, now some thoughts... They're not everything but something that bugged me.
- In the sewers, that "Fruit of Life" chest was bugged, I could get endless fruits just by spamming enter.
- In the part where miguel says "end of the line", and there's a -ehem- crack in -you know where- ... I just found that by pure luck! I was frustrated at that point and clicking enter on everything! I searched the whole sewers twice and gained like 5 levels haha. You HAVE to make it more clear where to look, if you know what I mean
- After I get out, you have a passability/priority error on the forest canopies in the bottom part of the map, I can walk OVER THEM.
- the walk speed well, you already know about it.
- Also, like pokemaniac said, accessing the menu is way too slow, with that sliding animation and all.
anyway.. I'll post other things as I think of them. I think the general impression is positive to me.
positives:
+ the story
+ the mapping (it's not perfect, there are some glitches in most maps, but the general execution I like a lot)
keep it up! :) way to go for a first game

Success! I really like the game, I mean a lot. Although it has a few mistakes, typos, and bugs, the general layout is great! =D
Positive:
+ I really liked the story, from the beginning to the end of the demo, it was amazingly detailed. The dialogue wasn't to bad either. =)
+ I like Miguel a lot for some reason... he just seems a more interesting character than the one I began as. Maybe it's because he has more of a role I prefer a character to have.
+ The mapping is pretty good! The cave & sewers was nice and detailed, as was the city! The rock puzzle in the cave was frustrating because there's like only ONE possible way to get by it. I retried 14 times there. D=
+ The way you develop the controls! I like the scrolling menu! KEEP IT PLEASE! Nice use of the save systems as well.
Negative:
- Still a few typos and bugs. rabitZ mentioned most of them that I saw weird as well. In the kitchen of the castle, there is a game-ending bug!
- There is some mapping mistakes but I'm not perfect in this field either so they didn't bother me! =D
BY the way, nice quest log! =P
Creative that you get it from the Priest. Oh, by the way, priest sounds better than pastor to me but that's just my opinion!
Good luck and I'll play it again one more time! (already played it twice!)

I initially decided to play a demo release before subscribing, only checking back when I had a chance. Now, I will be subscribing. Below is a list of possible changes, improvements, and over all general suggestions.
Positive:
>> I enjoyed the story. It sets a certain setting and is easy to follow.
>> The music was quite nice. I enjoyed listening to it. Slow, easy-going, all around lovely.
>> The characters were pretty well designed. I would like to see more of the characters open up and develop more but it is a demo, I'm sure you have your own plans and ideas for this.
>> The use of a quest journal or book, and the different conversations was fantastic I think. It's always nice to know where your going and what your next objective is.
>> The mapping is pretty nice, it just has a stylish look to it. Especially the interiors.
>> The dialogue wasn't to bad, but a few grammatical mistakes. You'll probably work these out.
Negative:
>> I didn't care much for the save system. Creative, yes. However, limiting the option to save to ordinary worldly objects is risky. I notice a lot of games do this, but not my personal favorite.
>> The menu opens pretty slowly, making it annoying and aggravating to keep using it.
>> The slow paced walking I didn't care much for. However, different than others so it could me a positive.
Bugs:
>> There is a very, very bad bug in the kitchen of the castle when you talk to one of the guards. My last save was the cave as well!
>> There are a few mapping glitches, but nothing major. Also, there are a few priority and passage issues concerning interiors.
Suggestions:
>> Remove the slow pace walk. That becomes tedious.
>> Make the objective in the sewers more clear. Took me a while.
>> Fix what remains of the mapping errors and the mapping would be wonderful.
I hope this feedback of my game play helps you! Good luck with the future updates and releases. I'll be sure to keep following.

Thanks for giving me some good feedback. Yeah I went over the game last night and found and removed a lot of the bugs you and Rabitz are mentioning. I might have rushed the release a little bit but the one I have uploaded now seems to be functioning better.
You can play it again if you want, the changes are a few extra monsters in the first cave, some changing around of text messages. And bugs like the fruit, the gaming ending bug, message bugs the tree priority bug.
Yeah the main character is meant to be Miguel, so I put more thought into him than Lute. Lute will join in later most likely.
lol I don't know what to think about the rock puzzle btw cause I have people telling me that it's too easy and people telling me it's too hard. Maybe I should remove it all together and make the cave long with battles? I don't know I'll think about it.
Again thanks for the feedback. I'm going to start my trial for VX tonight I'm looking forward to playing Tales of Arcadia along with some other VX games, I'll give you some feedback on it for sure!
Well, I beat the rock puzzle in the first try.
But the problem with these kind of puzzles is that is very easy to screw up haha.
I don't think you should remove it completely.
