BASIC SYNPOSIS:
A man of 23 named Rylo LeGrant is an avid fighter in his home town's so-called "Fight Club." His two best friends, Isen Niergard and Cera Norse, are also participants in the Fight Club. After dropping out of Magic School, Rylo returns to town to resume participating in fights. Little does he know how much his interest in fighting will steer him towards other interests on a much grander scale..
ABOUT THE WORLD:
In a galaxy far away, orbiting a star that, otherwise, appears non-distinct, are the planets of Hobolon, Epsiteria, and Thryse. This game takes place on Epsiteria. Epsiteria is the most earth-like planet of the three, and consists of roughly 65% water. Rylo, Isen, and Cera live on the southwestern peninsula of what is known as the mainland, a very green and forested continent in the northwestern area of the world. Other continents include an island chain with snaking rivers, and a vast desert continent. There are nary few other islands throughout, as the world is still quite young.
A TIDBIT ON EPSITERIAN LORE:
The Epsiterian civilization of the past worshipped the light, and had constructed several temples around the world at which they would worship. Throughout the evolution of the civilization to where they are now, very few of these Epsiterian faithful remain. Their temples of worship have grown old and unused. The core of their devotion to the light is an ancient tablet inscribed with what has become known as the Holyword.
Some Features:
+ No overworld map
+ All non-boss encounters are touch-based
+ Enemy health shown in battle with a side bar
+ Experience changes depending on party size
+ Swap party members in and out of active battle duty (outside of battle)
+ "Inactive" party members gain 75% experience (un-altered by party size)
+ Most music that isn't RTP is remixed so to lose some resemblance to its original source
+ Custom level-up screen
+ Some areas are totally optional to visit, but have decent rewards should you go out of your way to do so.
+ Find the elusive Greenmist potion, which revives and heals the entire party.
+ Also findable - 15 each of Violetmist and Redmist potions, which increase MP and HP by 3, respectively.
In all, this game is generally linear, though there are a fair number of places you can go that are optional and that can have a direct effect on the ease of your quest. If you've played any of my past games, specifically The Staff of Cyrenia or The Damulan Legacy, I've taken what good I could from those and have honed it up to the best of my abilities here.
UPDATE: 8/23/2010
I have finished playing through the game, and I am quite satisfied with this project. There are a couple of spots of the old-school grind, but nothing too bad. I feel this is my most balanced game yet, possibly by a long shot - with seven characters at hand, I never did find one particular grouping that was hands-down superior, yet I don't believe there are any groupings that are downright trash either. In fact, I found that the "ideal" party changed situationally.
This game also contains probably the single toughest boss scene I've ever created, as well. Download should be going up as soon as this place accepts it.
