Primary Goals

RPG 20XX was revived last December, so perhaps the original primary goals have changed- the specific points or features I will emphasize and deliver on. I'm not sure this has actually changed much.
All the other efforts list off a variety of things: open source, porting to arbitrary devices, this and that wild attractive feature, etc. RPG 20XX's biggest feature is being exactly the RPG creation system everyone expected it to and for it to be completed. Not a single feature more than necessary.
I've been writing the editor and engine without nonsense. You can really tell this from how small, simple and minimal the editor windows are. They start out this simple and only grow if must. The underlying software code is similar and quite messy, but it is easily workable and debug-able as you've seen me sometimes kill a critical bug within 4 minutes of it having been reported to me (that catastrophic editable text box bug I've already patched for the next version comes to mind).
I doubt any of you care that I'm not using XML file formats (if you even understand what that means), or if the code is neat or messy, or was written to be robust for the future. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe if RPG 20XX is simply completed and it does the god-damned thing it's fucking supposed to that you would be satisfied.. Well that and if the editor is lighting fast and responsive (as opposed to applications which have that tactile "lag" to everything you click, or have load times like they're three hangovers overdue).
So yeah, RPG 20XX will have the features needed to make an RPG game. That's the "main feature" of it. A finished release is much closer than I originally expected too despite me having lots of other work I have to do at the same time. I am much more optimistic than I was in January.
All I ask of you is to keep finding those bugs so I can build the most stable and well-polished software I ever would.

That's a pretty realistic and reasonable approach. Of course, I'm sure the other thing people (myself included) will be looking for is an editor that doesn't limit us with silly hard-coded values that serve no purpose. I despised the lack of control you had over key elements in 2k3, such as damage formulas and things of that nature. Although those limits can be removed later, especially since it's open source, it would be nice if it was kept in mind throughout production. In other words: I'll most likely edit the source to my needs when you're done :).
I'll be sure to try and keep up with your releases and look for bugs when I can. Thanks for all the hard work!
