Animated Enemies

I've come up with a good solution to the animated enemies problem. Why don't I have a mode you can turn on that automatically assigns enemies and battlechar animations together if they have the same name? Then you can decide for what frames and how they should be animated. It'll be like fighting another party of heroes in a weird way.

That would be epicingly epic! >8D

It would certainly make the animating scheme a lot easier, but only thing that'd be a bitch is the enemies walking up to allies and attacking etc. Or are you working on that portion at the moment?
And it would be simple for I would just use a wcbattle_draw_charset(ix,x,y,m); instead of a wcbattle_draw_enemy(ix,x,y,ix). Since the engine must be able to render battle character sets in the first place, I could just place them where the enemies are.
Oh man, that's sick. This is one of the things I've been looking forward to the most.
This is going to make projects so much cooler... and take soooooo much longer.

Wow, you should be a little more conservative with your ideas, this is going to give TFT a heart attack...

While we're on this topic, it'll be possible to show pictures in battle, right?

WHOA wow wow. two tails? that is a sexy idea...

i'm so happy! fff would love to see a video of that when you get it going.
Can we use battle animations aswell? Because.. battlechars are kinda small and... I guess that's what you meant with "battlechar animations" LOL xD

Well, yeah, somehow. I'll think of a way. What's much better than pictures in battle is the realization that any special command is accessed with the Variable Operations command right? So you can add extra bars and displays using the GUI toolkit provided- there's even a specific draw bar command.

There's going to be lots of combinations I'll never even come up with too. Who knows what any of these new features could mean when used together.

That's actually even better! I would still say having the option to display pictures would be good for certain elements that don't need to be drawn such as ornamental windows and such. Overall it sounds like a much better solution.
This entire project is turning out much better than I expected and it's taking me shorter time to do everything than I also expected. If I'm very lucky, the release date for the beta can actually be pushed earlier. Probably not though, I like taking exactly the time allotted to do things when it comes to big software projects.
yeah seriously WC don't push yourself way too hard ^^
I mean, you've done an insane amount of programming as is, no need to rush xD
Actually, save for that one time last week, I've been going at an OK pace so far.

you actually can already do this in the editor! you can assign battle animations to poses/states in the battlechar menu in 2k3. it's in i think the last tab to the right.

I want that same option but for the monsters :(
Btw, being able to show more than one battle animation at a time would be super.

If you can do this with the heroes, then you will be able to do this with the enemies.
