This project is being converted to RMVX. That is, not currently - no work is being done on the game - but it will be released as a VX game when it does come out. Essentially, 2k3 is dead to me. Not only is it far too confining for the types of interesting mechanics I desire to use in my games, but there's not enough work done on the 2k3 version of CoG to be afraid to start over. I previously stated that RPG Maker 20XX would solve a lot of these issues for me, but that's just not the case. I have gotten more work done on my current VX project than I could have ever completed in 2k3. Even graphically - and working with higher-quality and higher-res graphics is really pushing me to improve my graphical editing abilities. I've run into no problems with tilesets or any other complaints that scared me away from VX originally. They seem kind of silly now (Boxy? I edited in diagonal tiles, and I'm using parallax mapping. Limited tiles? I copy+pasted a tileset script in 2 seconds). I can't imagine going back to coding battle events to make skills that are even remotely unusual, and having to 'settle' for compromising features that just aren't possible. While Wolfcoder is doing an excellent job making an amazing tool, in my time recently spent learning VX, my rate of learning has accelerated so rapidly that I've come to see waiting for RM20XX as merely waiting to halfway bridge the gap between 2k3 and VX. I'm sure that sounds disparaging, but make no mistake, I have nothing against Wolfcoder, the project, or anyone else who chooses to use 2k3. What WC is doing is a service to everyone using the old engine. I'm not going to stand on a soapbox and shove down your throat what you should and shouldn't use; I'm merely illustrating the reasons I'm not using it myself.
As for my new project, the gamepage will go up soon. It's a very intensive labor of love, for which I am currently way more on fire with inspiration than CoG. Post lots, give lots of feedback!

Will you upload what you've made in 2k3? Or is there not enough playable content?
There's not enough playable... I stopped working on the gameplay pretty early on when I made the decision to wait for 20XX, and shifted focus to messing around with VX, and then further shifted focus to the new project once I realized how accessible VX can really be.
XD I totally knew that this was coming. Whatever! If VX means a better CoG, then by all means :)
Maybe when I eventually become a convert you could help me with scripting XD

VX is no picnic either, but you probably know that already.
Actually, no. I'm really not sure what you mean.
VX is, in fact, a lovely picnic at the moment. I've been able to do pretty much everything I put my mind to figuring out. I'm also rapidly self-teaching RGSS2. "Rapidly," of course, but I've figured out plenty and written some custom script blocks. Nothing has really been overly difficult so far.
@Miracle:
Yes of course!

A convert? I suddenly picture a line of labcoat-wearing nerds tromping through a village: "pies lesu domine, dona eis requiem. *BONK*" as they slam their heads against their laptop screens at the end of each cadence of their chant. Very much Monty Python.

How is this in any way relevant? Not to mention your lack of historical knowledge yet desire to fit in some piece of 70s pop-culture that just recently made a comeback amongst the newly teens.

That is judgmental, condescending and quite nastily uncalled for. Someone else's comment conjured an amusing image in his head. Please leave nitpicking, bitching, unnecessary call-outs and general dickery out of my game pages.
Your comment is equally irrelevant.
I wish you good luck with this direction/engine change Versaila. I can't help but think a certain notorious vx fan had a hand in this change, though :P
I hope you can manage to make it look as good as this project looked. With double resolution you've got double the pixel work :( and nowhere near as many resources available unless you're going to be playing the 2k3-tiles-in-vx card.

Hahaha. Well, I won't lie, a certain VX fan has certainly helped me with questions and whatnot, but didn't really have a direct hand in encouraging me to pick up VX in the first place. I'd just heard so many different things about it, and so much WAAARGARBL, that I decided to try it out for myself.
You're right about the look of the project. I'm decent enough with edits that I should be able to swing this; I'm not sure if I want to go for the lo-res look or work on new resources yet, but that'll all be decided when the project goes back into development. I can pretty much guarantee, though, that combat will be 50000% more interesting than I was chopping together in 2k3's DBS. ;)

chin up! I am sure VX will work out for Cleft.
(you should blog about your experiences in VX)
I was definitely planning on doing this on the new VX project's blog.
Versalia: YAY I got this script to work!
Friend: you are now officially a nerd
