Can these two sexy boys help?

My knowledge of Supernatural consists of hazy memories of one episode, my boyfriend explaining various trivia, and knowledge about the fanbase. So why play a Supernatural fangame, you might ask?

That's exactly why I picked this. While I think most fangames require players to be familiar with the original to work, I was curious to see how coherent this would be with my scraps of familiarity.

You wake up in a mysterious motel, which you leave after collecting weapons and beer from the basement. From there you examine moving boxes, mash the attack command in combat, and just kinda wander around fighting stuff.

After fighting many green rattatas, you meet a man named Burns in a bar and he joins your party so that he can take revenge on the thing that took his wife and all the hot chicks. Burns is the first of several guest party members; he's followed by Klaus, a man who fights a ghost to avenge his drowned son while helping Sam and Dean search for gas, and then Pam, a woman with zombies in her basement who crashed my game.

Once I reached a certain boss in her basement the event that ran the encounter would loop, forcing me to fight this boss over and over. I couldn't get out of the loop, and thus my Supernatural adventure came to an end. It lasted about two hours and while overall it was rather boring, I had a blast every time I got the chance to talk to someone.

Something I love about the dialogue is that it reminds me of early video game translations. You can understand it, but things are phrased oddly and there's just this weird energy about it all that's hard to find outside this niche. It's something I really enjoy about indie games in general, and RPG Maker in particular.

I'll confess that I still love this. I'm also reminded of anime dubs such as Garzey's Wing.

That's the main appeal of this game. I did genuinely enjoy parts of it, but the repetitive combat brought it down. Once I reached a merchant in the zombie basement I was able to buy enough demon's blood to max both Sam and Dean's attack, which helped speed up combat immensely. If nothing else, I always find it satisfying to watch big numbers pop out of my damage values.

I went into this not knowing much about Supernatural and I came out of it not knowing much about Supernatural. The plot is straightforward and understandable even if you aren't familiar with the show -- Sam and Dean wander around fighting demons. I don't recommend this one, as it's rather long for what it is and can't be completed in its current state.
