There is now a website you can use to share your custom content with other users! But you're still welcome to use this page to share and discuss content.

Below is a list of finished custom (user-made) content. To add these characters, in most cases you can extract the downloaded file to the game's main directory and you're set. Depending on how the author has organized them, it may be necessary to move files to the appropriate directories. (Custom content has not been tested by me)
Note: After new content has been added, old saves won't be compatible.

If you have posted custom content in this thread, I will (eventually) add your link to the list above, along with a small screenshot if you have included one. Be sure to test your content in-game before posting.

Helpful things:

--> Medium build girl, the .psd that was used to create the built-in characters, is available with layer names in English.

--> Not feeling artistic? You can use any of these images for making custom characters.

--> Notepad++ with syntax highlighting for Heartache 101 can be a big help with story creation.

--> If you are writing story content that includes the appearance of existing characters (built-in or custom), the following list may be of reference:
ID 0 = The Player

... Idiots. All three of you.

Triad, I gave you an ID in an effort to be nice. I WASN'T TALKING TO YOU.

Now get out of your holes and converse with other people! Geez.
ehhh!!!???

well? it's fine I guess?

I checked out the forums just now (holy crispy fry! there is one! I didn't notice!)
so... where exactly would the voting be done?
and...
author=Dozen
1. All votes are made unanonymously, right here in the forum. Links at the top of the page will point to every such post.

what do you mean by unanonymously?
It means everybody knows you wrote the critique you wrote.

And by forum, I meant this thread. Right here. Hence I said 'right here in the forum'.
ohh... and I thought the one glittering in the uppermost right side of this page...

I'm fine with it
by the way, what would happen to the one's who got the highest vote and the one's got the lowest?
I thought of a variety of ways to highlight the best of the best, but all of those fall outside of my reach. We'll see when flowerthief comes back. The worst content will punish itself, so I see no reason to mess with them.

As it stands, everybody approved of the system. From now on, you may rate any work you've played! YAY!

troll question: can I also rate build-in ones?
I've already played them

...punish huh

I guess more reason to aim for the best
*stares at the ceiling*
No punishment! I said NONE! You guys are impossible!

I think LordNight was talking about bad characters punishing themselves for being bad. However, the reading comprehension level in this thread is 0%, so who knows?

Anyway, outside of the ones I made myself, I know I played Junko, Yuu, and Midori. Not that I have anything prepared, but I'll still want to get the various subsections that Dozen outlined earlier.

*Edit:
Okay, let's just belch something out, and see if this is the kind of thing we want to see.

Character: Umehara Joruri
Creator: Marrend

Story: (2/5)
Joruri is a student that goes to a different school, namely Matsumori High. The same school Masako transfered from, as it happens. She has a grand-uncle that lives in the area where the game occurs, and she sometimes commutes to the area to look after him. It just so happens that she is tending to him when the competition with Miki is taking place.

Nothing truly awe-inspiring, but it serves a basic purpose.

Character: (3/5)
Joruri's interactions with Masako really give the impression that they've known each other on a friendly basis for some time. Which is all well and good. However, Joruri has no moments alone with the player. There are the repeatible events, but those are obviously there to replace the events that would occur if she was a "regular" character.

Experience: (0/5)
The thing about characters made by this author is the amount of consideration, or lack thereof as the case has been in the past, for players of NORMAL and HARD difficulty. This character takes this to an extreme, as she seemed really hard-to-get even on EASY. Even then, her supposedly repeatable events did not seem to repeat, making her all that much harder to get. The best move for this character, if we still want her to maintain the "student from another school" concept, might be to make the repeatable events HIGH priority. Assuming that does anything at all.

Content: (1/5)
No doubt about it, this character is built around getting the events with Masako and getting in a few of the repeatibles. In theory, this seems like a simple task. In execution, however, nothing seemed to go as planned. Indeed, just being properly introduced to this character took being introduced to three others, namely Masako, Junko, and Aoi. That is a task onto itself, particularly in the case of Masako. Also, while Joruri should not have interactions with the built-in characters, requiring their presence (as they are required for Junko/Aoi) gives the illusion that they are getting in way of Joruri's route.

BOTTOM LINE: 6/20
There's a few good things to be seen here, but the amount of work that is required to see it is not worth the effort.
I'm not angry anymore. I'm not angry at anyone for incompetence.

I've seen the light. I saw Carnival Phantasm. It was so crazy and disturbing I can't feel anger against any real being anymore.

Also I think I'm braindead.

...Must watch all the episodes...
Marrend.

I can't even begin to comprehend why are you so hard on yourself. 1 out of 5 on Experience? One? From you? Marrend, your stories are short. Very short. But each of them is half an hour worth of pure joy! I'm not letting you degrade your work like this. Think about it.

And I don't think you got hold of what 'content' is supposed to stand for. And other areas are kind of blurry too... I guess I'll have to show you people how it's done?

WHAT SHE SAID!>:D

HAHAHA!

My experience playing with Joruri was a painful one, though! I thought my reasoning was pretty clear on that. Maybe not?

Or, yeah, you could show me/us how you think it should work. That might help.

*EdIt: Though, I submit that I might be getting the concepts of "content" and "experience" messed up. In my mind players "experience" the "content". If that makes any sense.
Content is not the quality, it's the quantity. Which is horrible in Joruri's case, but it's not because you have to meet Aoi, Junko and Masako first. That makes it better.

And okay, maybe the gameplay was frustrating. I'll be honest with you, I switched and switched the word 'story' and 'exprerience' over and over in that post. I guess your interpretation confused me of my own rules. That or I'm crazy. Let's say it's the latter. ¯\_(-.-)_/¯ Now, after a good night's sleep(I still don't know what part of the world you guys live in) I'm pretty sure it was the story. Sorry about that.

Soo let's see... Gotta play Joruri. BRB.

The good news about this is that I'm actually getting around to testing this theory of mine with repeatable events having high priority. Because, let's face it, players are not going to get Joruri's astrological sign/phone number if they cannot get those events with some amount of consistency.
No good, if you think about it. That will overwrite every story event in the given location unless it has a high enough priority, and even then it would be a hassle. This can't be solved this easily... Maybe I can figure something out.

If we could alter the frequency of events based on affection levels, that would be pretty awesome. I'm not sure if that would make sense for Joruri's story, but it's the best thing I've come up with.

But, if we want to resolve this with something that can actually be done with what we have, um, yeah, no clue.
i actually didnt have that much trouble with her. and the little trouble i did have wasnt that bad because her story was so short that it prolonged the story a bit
of course this is coming from the weirdo who came up with maedas impossible checks

Edit i have an idea create 2 events per place one non repeatable with high priority and one repeatable with normal priority
Nice idea, Triad! Could work. With decent macroing we could keep the file at it's current size too, if not smaller. Let's go with both! Want me to, Marrend?

Also I think I'll ask flowerthief if he could give as a command for stat-based aff increases. We already have those, it shouldn't be hard.
actually you could already do that using three commands

Story 2 from game_stories_11.txt, the story in which the player character hears Akari listening to music over the phone, has these lines in its header.

CONDITION = 6 Neutral
CONDITION = 6 NOT Friendly

then use priority high

edit nevermind i misread that but you still could combine this with my previous idea (sorry it is 430 am and i havent had my coffee yet)
I don't think he meant it this simply. And it doesn't make a flicker of sense either way.
yeah sorry i need coffee lol but he could still use that with my previous idea so that till the affection increases you would run into her alot
