Hi, my name is Nero and my life sucks!

You would think with my turning 18 and everything I would be getting drunk and hooking up with hot babes, but no.

Instead I have become the village’s Courier, giving me the thrilling job of delivering shiny rocks to some city miles away.

Did I mention that my village is in the middle of a god forsaken forest filled with vicious monsters hungry for human flesh?

Wait, it gets better.

See while travailing though the woods I misplaced my sword, as one does while running for their lives! Fortunately I managed to find a sword logged deep in forest.

Lucky break hah? I thought so too, before I discovered that sword was some sort of mystic seal and by touching it I have released “Void”, the embodiment of darkness and nothingness, unto the world devouring everything in its path until it envelopes everything.

And guess who now has to stop it?

So now I have to journey around the continent with an angry Rune Knight who just seems to want to brutally kill everything, her ditzy younger sister, who for some reason outranks her, and a snarky mage who I don’t completely trust partially due to the fact he tried to kill us.

Plus, not only are we up against the essence of darkness we also have to deal with a mad undead sorcerer who thinks he’s a god, a cult of radicals who want to ban all magic and technology and the Darklords, the five most powerful, ruthless beings on the plant who 100 years ago nearly brought the world to its knees.

Sounds like fun.

Eternal - Return of the Void, is a throwback to the good old days of RPG Maker 2003. Where games where stitched together music and graphics stolen from everywhere and mashed together to create a unique experience dripping with nostalgia. And no it’s not just an excuse so I don’t have to bother with graphic consistency, shut up Steve!

Join Nero, on his quest and watch as what should be an ordinary task is hampered by an ever more improbable series of events that eventually snowballs into dealing with necromancers, inept political leaders, a grope of dangerously powerful individuals who everyone thought where dead, and the very concept of darkness and nothingness that wants nothing more than to consume everything.

Features:
  • Challenging old fashioned turn based combat system... If you call that a feature.

  • The ability to change the Battle BGM between three styles. Original, Traditional, and Classic.

  • A crafting system to create new arms and armor from enemy drops (not present in the demo)

Brand new World – VX ace Eternal Demo Release.

Finally after taking way too long to get something done we have a new DEMO!

I know I can’t believe it either. I’m so happy!

Incidentally you may or may not have noticed an update to the main summery page, and a new credits page detailing the resources used in its creation.

Also, as I mentioned before, I'll be keeping the old 2K3 demo around for a while just in case anyone wants to compare the two games. then I'll probably get rid of it in like a week or so. We'll see.

Well nothing left to say other than I hope you enjoy it.

WAIT, WAIT....what's going on ?????
I got pulled into a mirror and then Nero said "where am I anyway", then
I was at the start a new game screen...

Was that the end of the Demo or a glitch ??? :(

I did a little grinding and made it all the way to Carmine but ran out of
poison meds just before town and was running on potions :)

So, the end of the demo or am I in glitch world ???

No that is the end of the Demo. Yes I know it's kind of confusing. I really should have "Demo ends here message" next demo.

okey dokey, that's what I was hoping to hear/read :)

Enjoyable game so far. Very cute and a few belly laughs ....
The battles were not tttooooo hard but then, who likes dying in the woods :)
Okay, before you start reading, understand that this comment is all about the negative stuff I found, things I think need improving. Anything I didn’t mention means I liked it. I really liked the comedy, way more than I thought I would. I always wanted to speak with every NPC and loved how interactive Nero himself was with them. Don’t take any of this to heart please, I can be a dick with feedback at times. I’m not putting my thoughts into a review, as it already has one, so here is something little to tide you over. AFTER ALL I PROMISED YOU FEEDBACK IN 2012.

- Treasure chests? Are there any in this game at all? Some areas are very open, and asking you to have a look around, but frankly I stopped looking after a little while as it wasn’t worth it. Say what you will about random encounters vs. touch encounters it’s completely subjective BUT it does tend to make me personally, less likely to explore. Pair that with non-existence treasure and all I’m doing is trying to get from point A to B as fast as possible.

-Okay so I left a comment ages ago about the battle music but I didn’t explain myself, sorry about that. I strongly dislike the battle music, and it’s not just about personal taste either. Firstly, it’s like I’m watching an anime opening, but I’m only battling basic forest bees. When I finish a battle and begin a new one, I have listen to the exact same 30-60 seconds again and again. Could you imagine if your iPod only let you play the first 60 seconds of a song, how annoying would that be? Also, since most of the music is MIDI format it’s kind of weird to jump into an actual MP3 with some Japanese guy howling into a microphone. I understand you must like that song and it’s your game, that’s cool, but I’m not about to put Lady Gaga in my game just because I like a song by her.

- Experience and Gold drops from normal enemies needs to be increased. About 10 or 15 points on every enemy should do it. It felt like too much of a slog just to reach level 2, and when you reach the inn after the forest I felt poor as dirt, not enough money to get half the items I needed. To balance it, try lowering the experience from the bosses. Rewarding players routinely with levels instead of power levelling with a boss fight seems like such a better way to go. Thank the lord for nectar drops!

- Overall the game is very rough around the edges, spelling and grammar mistakes, text cut offs and an absolute massive clash of resources pulled from every corner of the universe. Also, don’t forget that in order for a comedy game to thrive, the game play and the comedy element have to work in tandem. So far, it’s working for you beautifully, just always remember it. For example, what does Can Food do? The description went full comedy, but the player needs to know what they’re buying. Little things can go a mile.

Appreciate the effort. LWG

I've been working on this for a while now and I've been planing on making another demo with better grammar and treasurer and stuff, some time soon (Although I've been making that clam since 2012 so who knows when it will happen).

I get the disliking the anime music which is why I'm adding an option to change the battle BG to some more classic music. I would like to point out though I didn't pick that track because I like it (although I do) I picked t because I though it would make good battle music, but that's not really relevant.

With the clashing resources... yeah you got me there. I could go and fix everything up, but I just want to get the thing done some somethings (like graphical consistency) will have to be thrown to the curb for the moment.

Oh, and one last thing... this isn't a comedy game. Oh there comedy in it, and there will continue to be comedy, but it's not the focus. Not really. you'll just have to see when more of the game is released. Hopefully.

Holly crap! I Just noticed this thing has over 300 downloads. I know that doesn't seam like a lot in light of some of the other games around here, but it makes me feel good knowing there are some people who actually like this project.

...

I better not disappoint anyone then should I?
2-hour RPG demo centered around a whiny protagonist. Its a not-so-serious game filled with jokes on the 4th wall, video games and anime. I didnt get all the references but it was pretty funny. Music and graphics are mostly ripped from mainstream games like final fantasy and chrono trigger. The gameplay isnt too great, however, enemies dont drop much money (just vendor trash) and some random encounters get quite ridonculous (5-6 enemies vs one character) so you're better off escaping, if it decides to work that is. Usually I dont like this kind of difficulty in random battles but here it actually fits with the tone of the story. They aren't too hard, but just hard enough to be annoying. I died like 2-3 times in this game because of these random fights (and other reasons) but overall this games hilarious and I enjoyed it.
