Spelunky is a platformer-roguelike hybrid by Derek Yu.

Spelunkémon is a modified version of Spelunky made by me!

This mod expands on the enemy variety of the original by adding...Pokémon! By the mod's completion, it will feature the entire first generation of Pokémon in one way or another.

But it's not just Spelunky with Pokémon running around. You can also catch the Pokémon with your new Poké Ball inventory item. The ones you catch are listed and saved in the Spelunkédex, a text file the game creates in Spelunky's directory. It also tracks how many of each one you've killed and been killed by. Yes, that's right, killed. None of this fainting or whiting out nonsense.

The Pokémon are spread out across Spelunky's four cave types. A few of them can show up anywhere, but some only appear under certain circumstances. The game still has Spelunky's regular enemies as well, but they're going to be phased out at some point.

This mod still has a long way to go before it's finished, and I have it on hiatus while I'm busy with some other personal projects. In the meantime, you can enjoy what's there. At present, the game unlocks itself and doesn't save any records (except the Spelunkédex).

So, if you like Spelunky, give it a spin! Even if you hate Pokémon, it's still fun to play.

Because there is nothing surprising about it. :P
I was just on my way to play some Spelunky now, no joking. Just like I have played it every night for the last week or so. I am totally addicted to that game.

Tried it out. Pretty neat. I'm terrible at Spelunky though so I had to use the shortcuts to see what all the Pokemans were. Diglett is the most dangerous thing.

I dunno if adding all 151 is a very good idea though, considering the delicate nature of roguelike protagonists along with the already abundant default enemies and traps. Getting rid of the main enemies and having just pokemon might justify it more.

It would be neat if a Poke Ball was guaranteed to catch any pokemon in one shot. Considering how a lot of them are tougher than regular enemies and balls are a limited resource.

I can't tell you how annoying it was to open up a hard to reach crate and get BALLS for my trouble. They're useful, but I'd prefer stuff that could help me nab treasures!

Was pretty fun! G'job.
Oh god, the premise alone is making me itching to give it at try.

I'll give my thoughts once I do.

I was indeed going to phase out the game's usual enemies as more 'mons were added to take their place. Eventually, they'll all just be Pokémon.

That's assuming I ever find time to work on this again.

I have too many projects. :c
