This is a short collaborative community event project wherein we created Ghost House levels in SMBX. The best levels were compiled into this game, which we called Mario's Mansion.

Kamek, the evil wizard, has turned Peach, Luigi and Toad into ghosts! Mario must brave the horrors of Ghostly Hollows to break the spell and save his friends.

A sequel, Mario's Mansion 2, was made in 2012.

To play this game:
1. Download SMBX (if you don't already have it installed).
2. Download the Mario's Mansion game from this gameprofile.
3. Copy the zip file to the SMBX worlds folder.
4. Unzip the game to that folder.
5. Start SMBX and click Start Game.
6. Select 1 Player or 2 Player, and then select Mario's Mansion from the list.

Mario's Mansion is released

The belated release of Mario's Mansion is upon us. I tried hard to get it out on Halloween, but I just missed the mark (my son was just too cute in his little vampire's costume).

The evil wizard Kamek is turning tricks again. He has turned Luigi, Toad and Peach into ghosts! Mario (and Link) has to defeat Kamek to break the spell, but first they must unlock the barrier to his house with star power. Scour the Ghostly Hollows for 3 stars and defeat Kamek to break the curse!

I was supposed to determine that? I thought you were going to pick the top 3.

WELL THEN! Looks like I'll be playing Mario's Mansion to determine this. And maybe, if you're lucky, I'll review it too. o.o
Great. Thanks for playing.
Multiple red boots appear in the invisible blocks.
I wish we could just start RMN Bros 3... i've been going head over heel preparing a great many levels... ah well... i'm not blaming anyone, and it means more time for levels...

/me waits patiently for the review(s)
First of all they should be a few spare lives here and there.

Ghost Dancers feels like a good opening level with traditional 1st Mario 3 fortress Tropes. I almost feel like it should be divided. In fact I'd love to see the outdoor section be its own level and add to that just to diversify some of the levels.

Ghost Wall is a good idea for a level, but I think you should add to the beginning to ease a player into the level with less death right at the front. Especially since its a starting level. If there is a halfway point, I didn't find it.

House of haunt is a terible level and in fact I think its broken. The first time I played it, I could ge through it, but the second time through I'm blocked. The up and down of everything is very jarring and it doesn't seem Mario.

Ghost House... I can tell its a Davenport level. The rain makes me want to vomit. Why is there only one red boot? Shouldn't it respawn when there are tons of spikes both ways? It has all of the token flaws of a Davenport level. Too big, too maze like. Too many things going on 1 screen at a time.

Ghost Castle. Christ another Davenport level. This level should really be broken up into 3. There are some interesting ideas, but there's a lot of running right to left then left to right, then right to left, then left to right over several screens. It just seems like busy work. The crusher was nice, but I think it should be in an easier level where that is the challenge at the end. The skeletons... wow. The snow makes me want to throw up again.

Haunted Palace. Another D-port level I can tell. A lot of 1-ups. Which there should be 1... not 3. The goombas oddly enough when running I don't think of them as threats so I bump into them, but that's my problem. Halfway points would be a nice touch! This should be 2 different levels. The green goo can be its own level.

WITH COLOR SWITCH BLOCKS >>> Have a block next to it so you can see the result :-) Hit a blue switch block see a blue block appear or disappear instead of having to wonder...

Phantom Train has a nice look, but I feel there should be ground! Its just kinda hovering. Good level.

Hopeless Hauntings seems really off at the beginning. The level would be more fun than challenging if it would have different Boo placements.
Dim Darkness. I feel like the fight should kick off with a powerup. There is flawed collission detection with Moter Brain, but that's Regedit's problem. Random 1-up sound effects.

House of Death. I liked the level until the fall at the end. Wow.

I hope you Burn. Interesting methods and gravity to be honest with you. The level seems halfassed and you could have done more to flesh it out.

House of Haunt. I will reiterate what a terrible level. I've put up with a lot of bad mario levels, but this one is notable for its excessive platform shifting. I also reiterate that the level can be broken when you hit the orange block, the blue block doesn't always appear and the orange block doesn't take away the orange blocks next to it while the blue block takes away the blue blocks. Part B is more interesting, but has more going on than is neccessary. Thank goth there's a checkpoint.

Ghosthouse Blues. Good music. More challenging in a fun way than a lot of the others. Invisible blocks probably aren't the best idea so much as hidden blocks. But then in part C it becomes a challenge in patience. Fun boss battle. I'd hate to have died.

Turning Tricks. After the fireball place... you can fall right through the floor unintentionally. Those floor planks should be bricked. ... Even when I hit the halfway point I still need to start the level over because you have the gateway level When you should have the gateway level make a path to this final level. Ugg.

I think you missed my level, ShortStar :P
Link? What's the laughter and chances are I did miss your level Deckiller. Well miss it in terms of reviewing it. I should just go into the game levels and play them one by one then comment without playing it in the game.

From the name of Mario's Mansion. I feel someone should make one giant MetroidVania style game with one giant house... Maybe next year?

DEATH CAVE: Felt quick and felt like it should have been darker. The end just abruptly happened. It didn't feel spooky as it did normal.

FRIENDLY HOUSE: Eh could have been larger...

GHOST HOUSE: This felt more like a challenge than fun. There are a few graphical mistteps when the platform moves up. The boss battle was interesting, but short.

GHOST TOWER: I hate to say it, but this was a good level. Probably D-Port's best. The rain is still a little much for my eyes, but this was fun and had a different element to the platforming when you scale the tower with a flight box.

GHOSTLY FORTRESS: Good level. Good platforming and speed. Very nice.

GLOOMY CATACOMBS: Jarring 8 bit music. As always there is a lot happening on the screen at once. It is a good level and you don't get lost in it like your typical D-port level.
It's best not to rush things.
Thanks for playing :D
The laughter is in place of a glaring comment about your views on Mario levels. Your entitled to your opinion but... haha
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Just because the game is "released" doesn't mean some of the problems can't still be fixed. I would love to see some of the issues pointed out repaired.
I agree with LockeZ. Just because something is released doesn't mean it can't be fixed or altered. I'm not the be all end all and either is Brickroad. I'm just someone who has played through a lot of Mario levels. Plus the fact that I've beaten nearly all of the levels in the game and the fact that I was willing to do it without being for a website or something to get website visits has to give me some sort of cred.

Having a signature is too mainstream. I'm not part of your system!

@ShortStar:Ghost House
Hmm I always try to keep my difficulty level low so people won't rage. I could run through it pretty easily every time so I figured it wasn't that hard. Also if you explore a little you can find an alternate easier path and even a level skip in part 1 which I built specifically for people who didn't want to do the running.
I'm sure if I play it a lot more I can run through it. Its not insurmountable like some of the Super RMNK Bros 2 levels.

Haha, it's Terrifying Treehouse - it's in the download.
I'm sure I'll get to it soon enough. So many levels... Maybe I've already played it, but not reviewed it.
HOUSE OF GHOSTS: Too quick, too easy. You could have done better :-)

SPIRIT CAUSEWAY: A hovering ghost falls into lava. You could have done a lot better here. Even if this is limbo or purgatory. The level could have looked less half ace.

TERRIFYING TREEHOUSE: This was good and different from the rest. Very enjoyable, but I don't think it needed the P-switch. It felt tedious having to do the same thing a few times. The last part was fine and good even with the P-switch.

TRICKSY: Like I said before you need to have it so when you go in the door it opens up to a new level ON THE MAP instead of going to a different level. Because when you hit the mid point of that level you still start at this level. Making the midpoint useless.

TURNING TRICKS FINAL: Fair boss fight. I don't exactly know why there was a float pendant there. Maybe to float above the boss battles? I also feel like the ghost bros are misleading and should be white hammer bros or something.

TURNING TRICKS INTRO: Good plot to be honest with you. Nice image edits. Could have used some thunder and lightning.

TURNING TRICKS: The floating sequence there is a glitch where you can go through the wooden planks to the wooden blocks. This should probably just be wooden blocks instead of both. The floating section was needlessly and painfully difficult. Complex too to the point that I'm not sure its beatable and after 2 tries and 20+ minutes I stopped playing. That's not the goal of a Mario level. Laugh if you will.

There's a consistency issue between the levels such as some ghosts can die with fireballs. Other ghosts can be spin jumped to death.
