In a kingdom covered in snow, in a kingdom where the snow never melts and never goes away, there lives a prince who keeps watch over his kingdom and resolves to maintain peace. When the prince learns that his family’s history isn’t as spotless as he had been told, he endeavors to fix what his family had done wrong and to ensure the continual peace of his kingdom. This will lead the prince to battling the phantoms that prowl the lands, to saving a princess, and to realizing the secrets of his family and his kingdom.

Plants continue to grow despite the snow, so there is no danger of a food shortage. There has never been a need to question this, so the residents of Sabine Kingdom are blissfully unaware.
Though of course, our prince--Snowe--is not blissfully unaware any longer. A dream leads him to combing through his parents' library and learning that something is amiss. What is our prince to do except try and fix what he had found? He can't just sit back and pretend like he hadn't read about a girl being locked in a tall tower where she may one day die from flames that threaten to burn her. No, he can't do that at all.

Because of reasons, I've finally uploaded the sequel web novel, Ephemeral Prince to itch.io as an EPUB and a PDF. So, if you wanted to ever read Ephemeral Prince on your phone and not connected to the internet, now you can!

I love this so far. Very well made and so much better than a few of the commercial rpg maker games- clearly lovingly crafted. A pleasure.
I am a bit stuck though, in the first tower in chapter 2 or 3 how do I proceed to the locked door? I foind all the levers but there is something I am missing and I canlt figure out.
This is the sort of idea I had in mind for my own project I mean not exactly it, just in terms of ambience I want to create...but I'm not even done with the story yet, let alone mapping and doing all that, .it will take ages but you sure are very inspiring! ^_^

Methinks I should do an FAQ for that part alone, Ode.
You don't have Astra's key. Go to the room with the holes in the floor (there used to be spikes, but you threw some switches in another room and the spikes went down) go to the left wall and try walking through. Eventually you'll find the hidden passage. Follow that and grab Astra's key.
Though it's good to know that if Astra ever had anyone break in, that would trip them up enough to give them all time to go beat up said intruder.

haha true, that, yes, I think it would be useful to have some sort of FAQ for thast area because it;s not clear what to do, I mean there are thiose chests that are not openable and I was kind of scratching my head whether that has anything to do with anything, but I see it;s more complicated, thanks, Ronove!
Also, I am always grateful for the shift walk speed accelaret thing, a lot of rpgs don;t seem to do that but it's better to have it, when you just want to speed uo, especially through areas you;ve been to before.
Also, the graphics for the characters are lovely! Really charming piece. I think you could go commercia, I really think this game is a step beyond quite a few others which do not hesitate to be commercial. Will be on the lookout for your new projects, hopefully.

It is sad that brilliant indie developers -- the only people who make good games and have real innovation anymore -- are forced to struggle with inadequate materials and rarely get compensation for their work, while the lazy, complacent AAA developers rake in the cash by doing the same thing over and over again and utilizing increasingly underhanded schemes. :/ I agree with Ode, this is definitely commercial quality.

I'm stuck in cavern here, cannot find exit. I read all signs and talk to every scarecrow. But I cannot move further. Pls help

@Fanatik007: You talked to all the scarecrows? How about the one who tells that your parents loved secret passages? To the east of that scarecrow is a secret passage. Just walk into the wall until you walk through it and find the secret passage. :)

Another bug maybe when Its beginning of chapter 2 and prince said I have to look around, cos of his cloak missing and error window pop up and game is closed.

Was it an RGSS2 error? Do you have any information about what kind of error it was? If it was an RGSS2 error, try shutting the game off for a while, try again later. If it persists, try to locate another computer to try it on (or as some people have done, switch which version you're playing--the w/RTP version or the one w/outRTP--sometimes that works apparently).

I'm stuck... can you tell me how to find the second secret way in the first cavern
I already found the opening in the wall which leads to the chest on the surface.

The game crashed here once (with an error that pointed that something stopped working in) when I was opening the chest in this cavern. (The chest which is in the bottom left corner of the cavern).
But when I run it again, it worked perfectly fine.
'm running Windows 7 with 2 GB RAM.

It was like it.
I'm using Windows XP
And this error happened when I'm trying to grab green book on couch in chap 2 my game is closed
The same error happened after I explored castle a bit, then at some point my game is closed again

Argh, I'm really tempted to play this. It's sounds similar to an story I have (being a Prince in a snow-bound country), which makes me want to play it. But I'm still reserved. Hmm...
@Fanatik: When the error happened, did you go into battle at all beforehand? Or did it happen without having gone into battle?
As I have said previously, for that error, I have no fix for (yet) and when looking at all the information I've gathered from players that have had it happen, I can't guarantee I CAN fix it. It has to do with RPG Maker VX being terrible about memory and thus something (haven't figured out what yet and if I can fix it) causes a memory leak which Windows shuts down.
If anyone is hesitant to play my game because of that, I can say that I am truly sorry, but at this very moment there is nothing I can do (or I would be doing it right now). And I really wouldn't blame you either if you chose not to play my game. It's a terrible error and I do wish I could have it fixed.
I will be releasing a new version soon in which picking up an item won't crash the game randomly.
