Very nice. Do all the NPCs have the npc marker above their head?
Thanks again, to answer your question here is how the markers work:

-Bank clerk has a "Bank" marker above his/her head.
-Any store clerk has a "Shop" marker above his/her head.
-Inn clerks have an "Inn" marker above.
-Npcs that you can play mini games with (cards or dice(so far)) have a "Play" maker.
-General NPCs have a "NPC" marker.
-Quest NPCs have an orange "NPC" marker.
-Other simulated "player/users" in the game will have no marker above their heads.
Oh okay thanks for clarifying that. Makes a lot more sense now.
Actually that's an incredibly genius navigation system. I applaud you!
Hey thanks for the nice words of encouragement Ashes and for your interest in the game!
No problem. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Haha that goes double for your game Fey! I'm actually almost done with the foundations for this game (finally) just need to complete one more task and then get the foundation beta-tested before I proceed towards my next goal which is a demo.
I don't know, I think those 'markers' look rather clumsy. MMORPGs (At least those I've played) only put the names and nothing else, above the heads of players or other relevant characters. I mean, there are better, old fashioned ways to let the player know in an instant where a shop is, or who offers a valuable piece of information/quest, without having to label everyone...

Also, that scrolling location name is too distracting. I just need to look at it once. I don't want it shoved into my face every 30 seconds.
I really like the look of the scene as I had said earlier.
@Alter: Hey thanks for the feedback, that's not the name of the area you see it's actually a song which you can play from your song selection. You have the option in game to turn it off with just one button so it doesn't need to appear continuously. Also not everyone is labeled, all non-npcs in the game including the hero and his summoned events are not labeled.

@Ashley: Thanks again brother!
Well, I think I saw something similar in other screens, such as this one and this one, where the text seems to be scrolling trough the screen. Either if it is a location name, or a song, or a message, is kinda besides the point. (though, if it is a song it's even more strange. xD) It's still distracting, but if you can turn it off then I guess is not much of a problem. - Regarding the other issue, the point still stands. Is much more favorable to just hint at those kind of thing instead of just plastering a label on them, but hey...

Yeah so I may have an option somewhere to turn off Hints or the messages you are referring to just to give the player an option. But yeah the song names can be turned off.

Actually I think it'd be a good idea. I'll have an options menu when you load up the game "Eden Gate" within the game itself where you can turn these things on or off.. Great idea, thanks man.

As for the icons over head that won't be changing, it's the best way I can think of for a player to see an npc is say a shop clerk if the NPC is placed on a field map for example rather than inside a shop. But thanks your interest and feedback alterego!
