I like it. Very simple and charming. I really don't see any major problems with the map.

It's a great use of this chip, but be careful about making great big maps with multiple towns in them. Lots of events can bog down the engine REALLY fast, and it's hard to make a world come to life without lots of events. Also, do something with all that dead space in the corners! If it's going to be taking up memory, it might as well serve some function...
