Stairway to Hell!

Hell --- ooo to everyone!
Well yes, this game takes place in Hell, so that's why this terrible pun. If it can be called a pun at all, anyway let's not waste other time and see what this Stickdude Goes to Hell is about! It was made in less than an hour, for one of #rm2k's Onehour competitions with 100% original black and white graphics. The Real Brickroad made it in 2007, and it's a game you can complete in less than three minutes.
The reviews were pretty bad but I wanted to experience it since I was curious, and it's free and short, so why not?

oh yeah!
Took me 2 minutes and 30 seconds to reach the final screen and no, I did not skipped any part or rushed through it, it's just a very short game! But it was made in about an hour, so...it's ok?

Is this a Demon? A cow? A demonic cow? A cat? A Manticore? Well it's just called "monster" and it's the only enemy kind you will see here!

Stickdude Goes to Hell is a game about... Stickdude (doh!). He dies and escapes Hell. That's it, even if it starts with a scene about Jimbo a Bubba, that are talking about our hero's demise. The game is rather lighthearted despite the theme of death.

Our protagonist Stickdude has to escape a mini-dungeon (Hell) fighting some unclear demonic creatures (called just "monsters") in less than 666 seconds (well since it's set in Hell...), but ad I wrote before three minutes are more than enough to end the game so time will not be an issue, and neither the opposing creatures will be a real obstacle for our protagonist. The labyrinth is also really simple with just a couple of dead ends and encounters aren't extremely frequent (you also have no reason to fight since you can run away! There's nothing useful obrained kicking monsters' asses, just a waste of time!), so it's sure it can be completed on the first try.

Music are a weird mix of theme: the Stone Temple theme from Zelda Majora's Mask, the battle fanfare from Final Fantasy and even an accelerated instrumental version of Big in Japan by Alphaville. Uhm weird, it's almost like someone really took random songs and themes and made them fit together. Even if they do not actually fit at all!
Visually... well you can see it! It's just a black and white stylized world rather bare and minimalist, probably done with paint in ten minutes and no more.

Hahahaha, to tell the truth I enjoyed that. Bad? Maybe, but Blade 3 was far, FAR worse!

Final Verdict
The greatest difficulty I had with Stickdude Goes to Hell is making it run! Between missing files and errors, I probably wasted more time figuring out and fixing the problems than really playing the game. Was really worth of it? Well probably not, even if made in less than an hour, I really do not find many reasons to recommend this game. I mean I somewhat liked some stupid humorous parts but it's so short that I wonder if I should give a rating... ok it's a game made for an event, and it's also complete. And it's also mercifully short and not frustrating at all, so if you want try it! I warned you!

Did you find the game breaking bug in this game? Since I don't think it was ever updated to fix it.

Oh no! I have to check your review then. Sadly it took me so much to make it run that I speeded through it. Well, not that there is much to do anyway.
