Be the first to take a look at the world of Nilfheim! Jaquio learns a new ability, he gets into a cool battle, and DRXeno gets pwned!

"Pretty much everything in my game is custom"

Well said sir! I like your taste in music too (Neclord FTW!). You must also be a fellow fan of the original Ninja Gaiden series (Jaquio and Ashtar).

So lemme see if I got this straight; Edicius is kinda like Magic/Special skill that is very powerful, but as a tradeoff each tech takes a certain amount of HP?
Lol, if you like my taste in music I like your taste in music! And you are right, I played the original Ninja Gaiden game so much on the NES that I had to eventually start blowing in the cartridge just to get the game to work!

And you are pretty much correct about Edicius. The video is probably misleading on what happens when you use Edicius because the transition into Victory was too sudden (I'm fixing this). But what happens is this. Using Edicius will set your HP to 1, even if you miss. That is the trade off for this ability. But the amount of damage it does, if successful, will not be lower than your current HP (not to be confused with your max HP!). So if your HP is 211 upon using this ability, you will not do less than 211 HP when you use this ability. Bonus damage comes from luck. Luck also effects hit %. The level of Edicius effects both damage bonus and hit %.

If you plan to get this ability, I suggest trying to level Edicius to level 3 as quickly as possible. You only have a 40% change at missing at this level. By the time Edicius is level 6 you cannot miss at all! This ability does work on most bosses. If your setup is good, you can even "one-shot" some early bosses. But spending BP to make sure Edicius remains powerful is costly. Figuring out your attack approach won't be so simple, you will definitely have to put some thought into it.

Lol, I remember those days. I used to do the exact same thing to my copy of Ninja Gaiden and The Guardian Legend. I played those games to death! I miss the days when "Nintendo Hard" was normal difficulty. Maybe that's why I'm always looking for a "challenge" in videogames nowadays. Turns out that a challenge for me is pure insanity to the average gamer, even in the RPGMaker community.

Back on topic, will there be a variety of Edicius for each character or just one per character?
Ha! I feel the same way. Those definitely were the good ole days!

And there is no variety of Edicius. When you use this ability, it is used and works the same for every character. I guess the challenge is figuring out which characters are best suited for the ability. For instance, later in the game a woman named Freya joins your party. If you give her Star Light, it becomes very noticeable that her healing abilities are superior to everyone else. In this situation, I don't believe you would want your main healer with this ability. In fact, it makes more sense to group her around other characters with this ability so that she can heal them after the ability is used. But then again, it is up to you. Regardless of what you choose, the "No Newb Left Behind" system will save you in most cases. At least until you get very deep into the game, in which you will probably have to start grinding BP to make up for the poor setup (strategy) you have deployed. And grinding BP won't be so terrible, there are so many mini games that grant BP that you will be ok, e.g. Garfian racing (like chocobo racing), Umatzi (it's a card game), battle arena (doesn't every good RPG have this?), and more.

I hope this answers you question.

Thanks for the insight! Of course a healer would be absolutely crucial if you plan on spamming Edicius, considering what it does to the user.

The "No Newb Left Behind" system is one that I've always enjoyed! Part of the challenge of an RPG (IMO) is figuring out a way to use each and every character to the utmost effect. Of course, this usually only applies to "good" RPGs rather than your average, run-of-the-mill, "spam the strongest characters strongest move till the credits role" type of RPG.

Mini games are a huge plus and I LOVE BATTLE ARENAS!
