So, I was looking at my sprites today, then took a look at Mack's template, and thought how would my characters look like as taller versions of themselves? As this was also a chance to improve my spriting skills, I made a rendition of Sana as he would appear if I started using the larger, Mack style:

So, which style seems better, RTP, or Mack? To be honest, I find that they both look good, but before making any others, I'd like to hear others opinions on this on whether to enlarge the rest of the cast, or keep them as they are. :D
In other news, I've started rebuilding the Ilia Subterrane completely, and the first floor is almost finished(just needs to be parallaxed.), and a battle arena called the "Pantheon" has replaced the Etherean Academy. Expect screenies for both of those later today. :)

I'm more inclined to side with Mack here. I think the taller character allows for somewhat more detail than the smaller one.
Though I can see the reason to have bigger sprites, I always liked the RTP style. I say that maybe you can do this one with one style and maybe a sequel, where they are older or something with the other style. Idk, just how I feel.

author=guitargodd97Can't see myself ever doing more than one game with any current or future casts of characters as I want this to have sort of a Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest feel to it(Though with X-2, and the XIII trilogy..meh w/e), with every future game being something completely different.

author=Noel_KreissYeah, I can't sprite hairstyles at all, so I do them through generators.(Bound to be different.) Lol, though the Mack one has a slightly more realistic look while the RTP ones hair's a bit more fantasy-style because of how spiky it is. ^o^
I'd say taller, but the hairstyle on the taller isn't as good as on the chibi.
I like the smaller version the if you do tall version you would have to redo all the towns so they dont look like giants to the doors and walls

Hope this sudden sprite change doesn't slow things down too badly.
If I focus only on spriting them, then no it shouldn't take "too" long. Here's what they will appear like now; no major changes other than the sprite style.
They look a lot more like how I wanted them to look, and unlike in either previous models, I can now display certain qualities better, like Sana's scar. (It's right above his left eye if anyone has trouble seeing it.)

They do look good, so go for it, I say. And also, will you be doing the same for all NPCs?
