Currently I'm making steady progress on the battle system. But there are still many things to do. Made a first preview-screenie from the battle system:

Don't worry, the interface will be translated and the battlers currently don't really mach with the background. But there is already a lot of interesting stuff for you to see there, and there will be much more in order to give you an unique and enthrilling battle experience.

Apart from that I'm also still finishing up the story. I've slowed down a little, since other tasks on the projekt demanded so, but currently I'm trying to catch up with this aswell. Expect more details about it soon =)

See you then

When I read the title of this blog I was expecting a full on explanation about every tiny little aspect of the mechanics that made the fights in your game such "an unique and enthrilling battle experience" so, I'm a bit disappointed now. :( ...Can you at least humor my curiosity and tell me what's the purpose of that Cosmos/Chaos bar on the middle? =P

Also, keep up the good work!

Thanks for asking! I held the details back, because I wanted to save them up once I have fresh material to really demonstrate them. This should be just a little tease. But I'm happy that you've asked, and I will give away some details about the Cosmos\Caos-Bars in the middle!

Cosmos and Chaos play an integral role in the world of Alterna. Basically they combine into what is known as "Breath of Live" - a force that empowers magic among other things. In terms of gameplay this means that you can combine the basic skills each character has with Cosmos or Chaos and create new ones. While the balance of these two opposed forces also determine the effectiveness of the used spells. The thing is, your enemies use the same bar, so every move affects anyone. The amount of Chaos and Kosmos is location-dependent. But you can't fill it up with potions or something like that, the bars regenrate themsevles gradually. So, that's the basic concept behind it.

I hope that I could satisfy your curiosity a little bit ;)
Well, I guess I'll have to wait and see it in action to fully grasp the idea, but I think I get the gist of it; Kinda like the elemental field in Chrono Cross, I suppose... But anyway. I'll be looking forward for more info on this and the world of Altema in general. =P
