Style changes

So Teressa Is finished (mostly) and so is Citus, but I was realising that they style of gameplay between the two may feel like it's changed. The purpose of the intros has been to introduce the character's and their unique abilities when not part of the group. Once the game starts to come together, you won't be able to play through each intro in one playthrough, instead you will choose your main character and play through the story from their point of view, each character will have things to do on their own, and parts of conversations that will change depending on who you'r playing as. So yes, they styles are different in the intros, but the game as a whole will be a mixture of all of them (battles, puzzles, factions, and quests) I hope that I haven't lost anyones interest along the way with the changes between Citus and Teressa, David is next, and he's back in the action!

Or you can have the enemy throw (jump) your character back before it moves. My gameplay is kinda like star ocean 2 for ps1, kinda LOL I'm going to have PAs and the way you answer questions gives you a "rude" "helpful" or "neutral " rating that effects future interactions and some items
Move routes can be tricky. Most of the time when you have a lot of event movement (NPCs for example), it's best to do it as a cut-scene. For example:

Set an event where the player walks to the left or right of the Mother, show the dialogue between them, and then have the mother walk to the table. That part can be a cut-scene.

That's a big thing I have with the move routes. Any suggestions?

You know about the "ignore impossible moves" thing, right? I know that sometime that can ruin things even more.

Depends on a few things, but sometimes you can have a separate page for when the NPC is moving and use the "collision with hero" trigger and put in a move hero command. That way if you bump into the NPC it will push you aside.

You could also put the NPC on a different layer, below hero or above hero. Then take special precautions to make sure that they stay in the boundaries of the objects on the maps(if they move outside of a specific set path). Or even just put them on a different layer when they are moving on that path. OR just use phasing mode ON when they start the path, then turn it OFF when they are done. Be careful not to interrupt the move command or phasing mode can get stuck on. If that happens you can always put a backup event to turn it off.

If it's a cutscene and the hero isn't supposed to move while the NPC is moving too, you could disable player movement. Check the player's coordinates and if he's in the way, move him before the NPC starts moving. If NPC movement is triggered by an action key event, put in a branch that doesn't allow the player to start the movement if they are in the way of the NPC path.

haha Just some random thoughts, I never really had to test these things myself. If you need me to explain anything further I can.

*oh this is VX ace. I don't know how much of this applies to that engine or maybe there are different options available. I always think in terms of 2k3 commands.
Thanks for the tips, I'll play around with them. @Link I know what your talking about and can make it work in ace. I think what ill do is male it conditional on the character being to the side of the mom. I live conditional branches :-)

I put a save from last version in, and you view some guy sleeping in bed lol. Also i chose teressa this time, and right from the get go you can run on all the trees, run left into the walls and on to the big tree, run right on to the water.
Also couldnt talk to any faireis or read signs.

Teressa's intro is a bit buggy, and wasn't suppose to be included just yet. I'm sure Dweia has plans to fix all of those issues you mentioned. :)
Yah lol Teressa'a not even close to be finished, i'm running on a time crunch and BareGamer keeps destracting me :-p but she should be testable by tonight. I ment to remove her event temporarily so you wouldn't be tempted, but the good thing is the Wolf event worked right? yes? please!
Trying to figue out modifying my tilesets. I found some online and i only need like 6 or 7 peices from each of them, anyone know how to modify them? like, do i use paint? or do i need photoshop or what...sooooo confused lol

Thanks for the bug update! Because BareGamer is helping me clean up som of the events, I had to merge the files and a few transfers got screwed up (um like ALL of them) Sorry i missed one :-( It'll be fixed for the 1.2 Beta release that will hopefully be available today.

In my opinion, an all star cast in the world of game making would include Yanfly, Kentona, Dark Gaia, NicoB, Liberty, Craze, Nessiah, HanzouKimura. Celiana, Lunarea, Mr. Bubbles..lol that list goes on for ages! xD
