Those annoying little things...

You know what I hate? Databases.

When my friend and I started this way back in our Senior year of high school ('09), we never really put any thought into the order of the stuff in the database. Items, skills, etc, it was really a "make it as you go" kind of thing. Well, over the past week, I've said "enough is enough". I was tired of the clutter and the disorganized databases. So I spent hours upon hours rearranging them, setting up categories for each type of item, weapon, armor, skill, etc.

It looks so much better, but God, is it tedious. It's far easier to find things now though. So hopefully I won't have too hard of a time going through every single event that involves items in the game and changing them around.

I'm just glad I decided to do this 10% of the way through the game and not 90%.

There was once on a lifetime when I was in the same thing as you were. It was tedious, but it gave me much more control over stuff. I looked at the items, and there were lots of unuseful things, and unbalanced equipment. Also, since I want to do some eventing stuff that needs it to be as organized as possible... it was mandatory!

Also, think about your players. RPG Maker drops all the stuff in the same order as you have it, and players can't change it without you remaking menues (and even with that is easier to just forget about the database! haha!).
So, if player1 wants to use potion3... where was it??

So, well done!!
Exactly! That was another big reason too, the order in the inventory would have been a jumbled mess.
And... the copy of the game that I was working from has suddenly messed up. All the Monster Groups, Attributes, Conditions, and Chipsets have suddenly been deleted for some reason. Gaaaaaah
Finally done with the databases again, this time backed up on 3 flashdrives, so hopefully no more issues.
