Each character's Moves and EX Moves can level up and become more powerful as in LoD. Input sequences include arrow keys as well as the Z and X keys.
Sounds good to me, as long as the best moves don't require following button prompts to a very strange syncopated rhythm. In LoD, I stuck with "weaker" additions because I had their rhythms worked out to the point I could do them every time, without even needing to see the cues.

When I tried some of the other moves, I remember screwing up most of the time and dealing pitiful damage.

I will destroy you, Melbu Frahma!

+25 damage.

Well, damn.
I remember having an especially difficult time completing my favorite additions on Melbu Frahma too, and I could only complete Rose's move set :|

I'll post a screenshot of the actual inputs as soon as the basic coding and a couple of battle/sprite animations are completed.
I'll adjust the system based on everyone's feedback, of course.
I've been wondering... Is this battle system designed to have up to three character at a time? Because I think I see three available slots down there in the display, but I haven't seen a screen with so many characters so far. And I'm under the impression that the hero's side of the screen would look pretty crowded if that happens to be the case. =/
You're right. There can be 3 allies and 3 foes at a time and their sprites will overlap a little during the Command Selection phase.
However the Action phase will only show the attacker and its target (or 2-3 targets if the command selected targets all foes).
