A game that only focuses on battles

I personally think this game is way overrated. I for example liked Visions & Voices, another game from the same developer, a lot more (note: I gave V&V a rating of 4.5). So I really have to give my own opinion on this now.

Story - The game hardly has any story, you are just get thrown into the game with no explanation, I don't really feel at all like continue playing due to the story or something. Basically it's almost non-existent. The only good parts of the game are the dialogues the skeleton gives during the battles, they are interesting and funny, other than that, the story is pretty boring: 2/5

Graphics - Mostly using standard sprites, but it still gives a unique feeling, I guess it's because of the skeleton guy and the menu design which is quite good. The maps themselves aren't that interesting, though: 3/5

Music - The music is good, I guess it's taken from some bands at least one of the battle themes sounds like a remix from a dnb song I know (the one with "my mind is going" which band was that again?). The music is not part of the atmosphere or anything, though, it's just there: 3/5

Gameplay - The game really is all about the gameplay and the battles are really good, strategic and fun. Still, the gameplay has huge flaws. First of all the game doesn't give you any directions, but many of the battles can't be won without certain spells you get from other battles. So you basically aimlessly wander around the castle in search for monsters you can actually kill with no pointers at all. This can get frustrating. Especially because the walk speed is fairly slow (even when running), you often just walk around forever. In the end the lack of an interesting story and all this walking around made it impossible for me to continue enjoying this game, even though I really liked the combat. I still give the gameplay a slightly above average score because of the great combat: 3.5/5

Stability - Game is pretty stable, didn't encounter any major bugs. You need to have the RPG Maker VX RTP installed to run the game, though. No reason to substract point here. 5/5

Summary:
Story - 2/5 (almost non-existent, doesn't keep you interested)
Graphics - 3/5 (mostly standard RPG maker, nice menu design, boring maps)
Music - 3/5 (good, but neither original nor part of the atmosphere)
Gameplay - 3.5/5 (great battles, a lot of boring walking)
Stability - 5/5 (no bugs found, requires RTP)

Total - 3.5/5 (the battles are great, the rest is not)
