It was a brilliant story

Premise
Dead Moon Night is a light hearted RPG about a naive nun who must return the head of a necromancer back to his body. When I heard on a thread about the plot, that's when I jumped on the bandwagon.

Story
From the start, I was probably going to like the story anyways. That's what made me want to download the game, afterall. Did the story meet my lofty expectations..? Yes, it did. Morten and the nun were quite the comedy duo. I would go around the map just to see what they had to say about basic objects like a bed, painting, whatever. And the story just never lost its touch, even to the very end. So from start to finish I was enthused by the strange plot. I found it perfect. 10/10

Gameplay
It was definitely different. I've never seen an RPG with equips like the one in this game, but I gotta say that it turned out great. Instead of equiping items to my head and whatnot, I was able to equip a total of 5 stat boosts of my choosing. It gave me, the player, the freedom I desired. The battles had weird moments; enemies with high defense or low defense, on drastic scales. Goes without saying, I like unique things such as that. The boss battles were more enjoyable than the ones you see on other RPGs, both in the way the build up to the fight is fun, and in the way fighting the boss is fun. Other notable qualities I liked; no grinding and no having to battle every 5 or 10 steps on the map. Nearly perfect. 9/10

Music
The type of music you'd expect in a light hearted RPG. But the music did have good timing for funny dialogue, that's for sure. I'd give this a higher score, and I did enjoy the soundtrack... However, a great soundtrack is one that the player remembers even after they finish the game, and I can't remember a single song or musical background. 8/10

Graphics
They weren't anything that tremendously special, yet they had variety and customization in them. Nothing was default and if there was, I simply can't recall. The portraits seemed custom drawn, having just enough quality in them to be legitimate as portraits; makes me feel the graphics were great. The maps were almost entirely made with custom tilesets, so, extreme kudos to whoever designed them. Last but not least, menu windows pleasing to the eye. 9/10

Mapping
It's tough to judge just how good the mapping was, based off the fact I liked the tilesets so much. But excluding the tilesets; from what I can tell, the mapping was okay and did a decent job at complimenting the good tilesets. Some maps looked great, others looked only okay. 7/10

Overall
This deserves a high score for sure. It's no coincidence that this game took so much work to make; as a result I was surprised that it was so short, however. But to be honest, I feel the humor and story would've suffered had the game been any longer. 9/10
