A powerful earthquake within a range of mountains near the border of two nations has unearthed an ancient mystery. A tower emerges from the destruction, seemingly untouched as the earth around it crumbled. The Academy, a powerful organization of the Northlands, wishes to know its secrets. A team has been selected to investigate this tower and unlock the secrets that lie within.

  • Two main characters to choose from! Either choose the spearman Gerald, or his sister Brenda, the paladin.

  • Explore the Ancient Tower's 30+ maze-like floors while fighting monsters and collecting treasure along the way.

  • Charge into battle or sneak past enemies that are visible on the map. Random enemies, not random encounters!

  • Engage in classic 2D turn based combat using powerful techniques and other abilities like alchemy.

  • Navigate past deadly traps such as ground spikes and falling floors.

  • Discover the secrets of the Tower with collectible items and secret areas to explore.

  • Help the expedition's camp flourish! Invest in modest shops so they grow from stalls, to tents to full buildings!

Playable Characters:

  • Gerald: An agile warrior that uses the spear as a weapon. He is a recently graduated student of the Academy that got assigned to this mission due to his exceptional performance. He uses ice skills as well as shouts to improve ally stats.

  • Brenda: A sturdy swordswoman skilled with the sword and shield style of combat. She is a year older than her brother Gerald. During the year since her graduation she has gone on many missions and completed them beyond the Academy's expectations. She wields her faith as both a shield to heal and defend her allies as well as a weapon to smite evil. She uses water skills to heal enemies and strike her foes.

  • Harvey: A blacksmith from the nation of Midland. He wields a warhammer and specializes in fire attacks and roars to lower enemy stats. He is from the Midland expedition and is assigned to help with the Northland expedition.

  • Reynard: A student of the Academy who specializes in History and Alchemy. He wields a whip as his weapon of choice while also using Alchemy to destroy his foes. He is assigned to this expedition due to his exceptional performance in exams and knowledge of history, both famous and obscure. He uses Alchemy to attack with a variety of elements.

And there has to do with places not people, i was correct in my spelling.

you were wrong.

why are you still talking? you made your point, you wouldn't buy this game and you can't handle criticism. move on, man.

where is the commercial information? how much it costs, and where to go to get it? I've been away for a few days so maybe I'm missing something about this new commercial business. or were you making this before and now that you can, you are making it commercial, so you don't know those things yet?

Not sure where any of the so-called "haters" are, MarkusT.

So... nice trolling and asskissing I guess, my good sir?

P.S. "There", not "their".

see, that's the thing. because he doesn't agree with the general consensus of some of the negativity he's ass kissing? and trolling? i think the 'haters' have already been shown. people don't put that much effort into pushing a game down, i know this for a fact.

also wow@correcting grammar.

The commercial information is that the game isn't complete, it's being developed. I plan on releasing an updated demo (and likely an updated one after that) that features the first 1/4 or 1/5th of the game so you can get a feel for the story and experience core gameplay. That way, if you enjoy it and wish to keep playing you can just buy the game for a cheap price (which I'm not going to bother trying to estimate until the game is actually complete).

Thank you for your interest.

I called him an asskisser because he blindly praised Reynard without actual thought and weight put into them. Sure, compliments are always nice, but if you're just blindly praising someone that's nothing more than kissing someone's rear end to try and get on their good side. Just calling them as I see them.

If you would be so kind as to take this argument to PMs, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Okay, question time:

* How will the camp expansion system work?
* Is leveling up the only method of gaining new techniques and skills?
* Will there be much of a difference between choosing one of the two leads outside of dialogue?

I'd ask more, but that podcast you and Despain are doing have probably more or less have it covered.

A mountain has been made out of a molehill. It is amazing that in 2012, we're still seeing "haters gonna hate" posts. Disagreeing and/or disapproving =/= hate. I guess chivalry isn't dead, what with all the white knighting going on up in here.

This is just a typical response to typical criticism, not an "argument." You can't just mini-mod the end to a conversation before people get a chance to clear the air. -_-

Edit: Okay, Liberty. We were allowed to clear the air. An accusation was made of us being "haters" when in reality no one gives nearly enough of a fuck to "hate" anyone. ...Obviously.
Alright, enough. Let's get back to actual feedback instead of whether or not agreeing or disagreeing constitutes flaming, hating or any other 'ing'. That or take it to PMs, please.

Edit: Right, and I was saying can we get back to actual productive talk instead? Since, you know, two pages on actual haterism and whatnot is probably more than enough when there's three pages total.
If I seemed brusque about it it's because it's annoying to keep getting notices for stuff that's not game related. :\

Clareain essentially hit it on the head.

Image macros are not allowed outside of the Welp forum, especially in instances like this where they are fanning the fires.

Backseat moderation is frowned upon, and I would rather see the air get cleared if it's done civilly. At first, that seemed to happen here. Reynard stated his opinion, Harmonic responded in kind and was entitled to defending himself. Both sides have said what needs to be said by now. No sense dragging it out and fueling/spreading the fire (per MarkusT's post and the subsequent roasting he received). Harmonic, Reynard, MarkusT, anyone else who has a bone to pick: if you have further issues, please take them to PM. Most people subscribed to this game want to see actual game discussion, not arguments that can be settled just as effectively in private. We all know where everyone stands here.

In situations like this, I'd like to see this:

Someone makes a bold/questionable statement. Someone else takes offense to that statement; this person responds and calls out the first person without overreacting and with tact and civility. Both have had a say, so the argument should then be taken to PM if it's going to get heated. Personal arguments spiral out of control once each side starts one-upping each other and bringing others into it. Not to mention the number of people who wander into the crossfire by themselves, starting all sorts of other bickering. That's not what game pages are for. Obviously I might still let the whole discussion play out in public, depending on the topic and the heat level of the debate. This time? No. I want people to debate, discuss, criticize, and be open as long as they're being courteous. But the line has to be drawn somewhere.

So basically:

Don't add fuel to a fading argument. A mountain really was made out of a molehill here, from both sides and from multiple users.
Take things to PMs if they can get or have gotten heated so that nobody else has to get involved. The more things are dragged out in public, the more people get involved, thus creating secondary arguments and...yeah. You get the idea.

Camp:
It'll be fairly simple. The further you progress in the dungeon, the more upgrades that are made available. You spend money on the upgrades and new things to purchase are available, the aesthetic of the camp changes (stalls eventually become buildings, etc.) Nothing too fancy, just another reason to spend money from killing monsters.

New Skills:
As of now, higher levels are the main way to get new skills and abilities. There will be other ways to get very powerful skills, but that is something I'd rather someone discover in-game.

Character Choice:
It's a purely aesthetic one. Different choices are available, different dialogue is presented. Gameplay-wise you still have access to both characters in the party, so whoever you choose is purely to see the story from their perspective.

Thanks for your questions!

As far as mini-modding goes, I'm not mini-modding. I didn't demand anyone to stop doing anything. I merely asked people to please take it elsewhere as I didn't like it going on. If it had persisted even after I had asked, then I would have sent a report and gotten mods involved. I figured making a simple request for it to be taken elsewhere would be perfectly acceptable behavior.
Oh, no that was aimed at me.

Neat about the camp, just make sure that you give enough money that you're not always saving for items - a bit of cash overflow so you can save up some money.

I will definitely keep this in mind, thanks!

Yeah, you were in the right to request that they take it to PM.
The last post was 2012... I'd say it's likely fairly dead. Or waaaay undercover.
