Progress Report

Alpha 1.62 changelog

Fixed some major bugs with Rick Keane. In existing saves, you may end up with multiple copies of him in the world. You can still complete his quest, if you just ignore the extra copies.

Fixed enemy skills going so fast that you can't read the descriptions.

Added a hint from the new party member in the tower. Also fixed a minor bug in one of the new party member's skills.

Progress Report

Alpha 1.6 and 1.61 changelogs

Retroactive changelog for 1.6! After nearly a year in hiatus, Hero-Man returns with version Alpha 1.6! Here's what's new:

- The tower is now open! Everything leading up to the final encounter of the tower is playable, including a new party member!
- A new house and quest has opened in Hyrule Castle Town!
- A new encounter can be found in Hero-Town!
- The Codec is now functional! A tutorial is included the first time you use it.

I have laid out a plan to reach beta soon. Beta will mean all the main quests and the ending are complete and playable. After that, we'll be stuffing extra content into the game until no one can take it anymore!

Version 1.61 finishes what we left off in 1.6! Here's what's in store:

- Finished Tower final encounter and aftermath!
- A new house opens in Hyrule Castle Town...
- Several new high-quality music tracks to discover.
ISSUE: Currently, if you have already gained the new party member in the tower, you will need to revert to a previous save in order to finish the tower. If I can find a way around this, I'll post an update. In fact, I just came up with a way. The next version will have this fixed! Sorry!

I'll be dual-posting these changelogs as blog posts so they'll be more visible. As it is, I don't think many people actually see these on the downloads!

Alpha 1.3 is out, Work vs. Planning

Many thanks to all the viewers who've looked at my game, and especially to my first subscribers!

It's been a few days since the last release, and I wanted to say something about that.

While I haven't added much to the game in this release, in the time since the last I have been planning a lot and even gathering ideas from friends about what to include. I know exactly what every hotspot on the world map is and much of what will be in them. I know the specifics of the ending and how to reach it.

In short, it's only a matter of time now. I'd like to invite anyone reading this to submit ideas for inclusion, but my goal is to finish the core game before spending time fitting in all the fluff, so to speak. The fluff is important in a game like this, though; it's not exactly a drama-filled epic RPG. Alpha is for building up the core game, Beta is for adding in the fluff. The finished 1.0 release should be an enjoyable, somewhat lengthy experience for new players.

That's the plan, and I hope to see you (and your friends, spread the word!) along the way.

Alpha 1.2 Released!

This version opens up all the buildings in Hero-Town. There are several new collectibles to get. There's a few things you won't be able to do until I add more areas and things to do, but you can meet several new characters.

Please let me know what you think and I'm always welcome to suggestions for parodies or other fun stuff to add!

Known issue: Failing a certain challenge doesn't let you out. Luckily it's not that difficult to begin with. Will be fixed next version.

Progress Report

Alpha 1.1 released

A quick update adding some content, did not get any fixes in yet.
UPDATE: Accidentally left the start position in the wrong spot. Re-uploaded.
Additions:
Church is now enterable.

Known Issues:
Tutorial is missing a few pieces (dash key).
Messages during combat flash by way too fast.
Money is not added when it is supposed to. You'll see.

Questions:
Does anyone know how to slow down skill usage text/combat speed?
Anybody know how one might make an event more intelligently avoid the player instead of being easily caught by running into walls?

Progress Report

Alpha 1.0 Released

Here's a summary of what you can find in HMVXA Alpha 1.0:
Meet Hero-Man, learn to control Hero-Man, learn the basics of gameplay, examine stuff, explore the starting town, meet the elder of said town, begin the adventure.

There's quite a bit of hidden/optional text to find, and everything should be functioning as intended. If something looks unusual or out of place, examine/talk to it! It may be useful. If you spot any errors or bugs, please let me know via PM or comments.

Future blog posts will include spoiler-free changelogs and hints at additions to the game (because a large part of the appeal I see in my game is discovering the who, what, when, where, and how things happen).
