Partly Baked

Sweet Tooth is an indie game made with Ren'Py. The current state of this short visual Novel is incomplete, but it appears that the developer will not be completing this game due to a file loss issue.

In Sweet Tooth you play as the daughter and heir to a bakery shop (You get to name both the player and the shop at the start of the game.) Your shop is in trouble and your parents are off for a couple of weeks to steal ideas from other stores. It's your job to manage the store for this time period. Depending on the choices you make in this time you can get multiple endings.

I didn't have any issue naming my character.

The premise of the game is alright, but there isn't a lot of material set up in between. You can occasionally get into an interesting conversation, but many days just pass as you select a choice and move on. There are a lot of choices and endings to go through. Sometimes characters will give you a choice to do one thing or another. And every day you need to decide how to help improve your store. If fully implemented this system might actually be very interesting.

Besides some dialogue branches, you get these 3 choices every day.

There was quite a few music tracks put into this short game, but when I was playing they all felt too similar. The graphics are more of a mixed bag here. The character busts for the main character and the chef are well done here, but they clash horribly with the backgrounds. The backgrounds of this game look like someone took a pixelated picture and zoomed out a couple frames.

So what does this game have going for it? Nicely done character busts, an okay story, and an interesting mechanic for managing your store. What does this game lack? Well chosen music, more dialogue between characters, and better backgrounds. With that I'll give this short demo with multiple endings a 2 / 5.

I honestly don't even completely remember what was in this game, so I don't have a ton to say in reply to you xD

All the music in this game was made by the same dude so I wouldn't be surprised if they were similar.

I can't draw backgrounds so I stole some images off the internet and applied photo filters on them. I thought my color scheme was fairly consistent, at least. And yeah, the chibi busts don't really work too well with that background.

It's actually kind of interesting comparing my old artwork in this to my newer stuff xD I've definitely gotten better, I think. (or at least gotten a more refined style? this old stuff has a certain charm to it)

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to write a review! I certainly wasn't expecting it, haha, especially on such an old and incomplete game.
